I hit Willard today too with my uncle in his Bayrunner. We trolled all over that damn lake today. Boated 4 and missed a few bites. We couldn't buy a bite on the usual suspects so we switched up the color and size of the cranks and started getting hits. The bite stopped for us around 2:00. Lots of fish surfacing, probably carp. Good warm day on the water with the sun and bugs.

Last week I am pretty sure some of the fish were not carp that surfaced . Looked like wipers to me . I made some cast to them but no hook ups . Maybe a false spawn thing .

Could have been. I saw yellow bellies on a few, but didn't get a good look at the others. There was A TON of bugs and bug casings on the water. The fatty I kept today was also chock full of eggs. The fish I have caught this year are short and fat, I think the tourney is going to come down to weight.

I also hit willard today and put in way to much time,I was on the water at 6:00AM and off at 6:00PM,I also switched it up and still couldn't buy a bite,I would have gladly paid.willard 2 fnf 0.
Its still early, and I have never done well tell the water warms up.It does suck that I have spent $160.00 in gas and haven't got to fill a wiper on my line.
I did get 1 crappie in the north marina though,he caught himself while I was eating my lunch.
And I didn't see one wiper on top, lots of carp. You can tell when a wiper smacks the surface, thats how I usally find some active fish, but I haven't seen any.
the shad numbers have to be way down, the terns where flying all over the place but not one of them did a dive bomb.

We saw some terns in groups on the surface. They were diving pretty deep for food, the water was 20' feet plus where they were diving. We caught fish pretty close to the birds all day.

Fished willard this evening from 3:30-8:00. In the first couple hours we had four hook ups but only boated two of them, two small but healthy looking walleyes about 14 inchers. The surfase temperature has warmed up to 61 degrees.

What I seen last week could of been shad too . All I seen was silver sides and it never jumped out of the water just come up and smacked the surface . I'll be checking it out tomorrow if my truck don't take me to Lake X first .

Hey Chad, what kind of fish did you catch that had the eggs in it, was it a wiper?
[signature]
Yeah, it was a wiper. That was all we caught today.
