Well I got a chance to go down to Sand Hollow last weekend and just got back yesterday. What a hoot!
First of all, the fishing is hot, the fish were average size (1-4 pound), but you certainly needed to know what you were doing to be consistent. I personally caught 15+ fish in 5 hours on the water over two days but I saw many others with not much activity fishing just a 50-100 yards away.
The fish were moving all over, I caught fish in water from 2 feet to 18 feet down. All of my fish were caught on 3-4" zoom and yamamoto curly tail jigs in pumpkin/blk flake and champagne colors on a 1/4 oz leadhead. I have to say that it was much easier to catch them on my lighter spinning setup than my baitcaster as they were striking more on the fall and it was easier to sense it. The technique was mostly cast, close bail immediately, wait 5 seconds, twitch twitch with slowwww retrieve. Basically on every cast if i didn't have a fish i was cleaning off moss...the price i pay i guess.
I released every bass I caught but we still wanted some fish for dinner so I tried hunting down the blue gill and finally on Sunday I found the honey-hole and the action was INTENSE. I had a fish on every cast in about 15 seconds. My 5 year old had a blast. The bluegill were huge too, most of them as big as my outstretched hand.
Most of the bass were caught just south of the OHV sandy area. Sorry guys, I am not giving up the location of my bluegill hole.![Sad Sad](https://bigfishtackle.com/forum/images/smilies/sad.png)
