[cool][font "Eurostar Regular Extended"][green][size 4] Thanks to Tubedude I'am nlow ready to hit the water on my toon complete with my new Cuda 168 fishfinder. Gonna try it out this sunday @ Lincoln Beach. Thanks Pat you did an awesome job . It would have taken me a lot longer due to my temper . I would have had to take a few (you know breaks to refresh my thirst)during this install job. But Pat flew right through it with no problem at all. Now all i want to see now is fish on my screen & on my stringer. [/size][/green][/font]

[cool][#0000ff]Man, I wish I could be there when you discover that new fish video game I installed on it. You're gonna go crazy when you see all those fish and you don't get any bites.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Actually, I don't have a video game on mine and I always see a lot more than I catch.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Glad I could help. Bring your toon over and we will get it tricked out with some rod tubes.[/#0000ff]

Hey Pat did you post a pic of your downrigging setup? After our last outing with the kitties I have to make some changes (again). Half the fun is inventing new and hopefully better ways to do things.

ok i'll do that. Maybe Ocean (Cesar can join us as he has the same kind as i do.) But this time i think i owe you a dinner from a good resturant for all your help . It will be my pleasure and my treat.

[cool][#0000ff]Here are some pics of how I rigged the toon. I used a short length of 1/2" PVC, with a 1/2" to 1" 90 degree angle piece on each end. I mounted them so that one pointed straight up and the other at about a 60 degree angle. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I used a straight piece of 1" schedule 20 PVC for the upright and a 11" piece of the same stuff, in an angled coupling for the angled part. A 2" piece of 1" PVC comletes the joint of the angled pieces.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I do not glue any of the parts except the pieces that bolt to the frame (you can also use hose clamp.) The rod holder part is just pushed together. That allows some degree of adjustability.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I cut off half of the top part of the end of the PVC that holds the rod and notch the bottom with a 1/2" Dremel tool...for the reel handle.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I use a rubber band or a piece of surgical tubing around the tube of the rod holder to hold a loop of line from the reel. I leave the bail open or the freespool on if dragging bait. When a fish hits it easily pulls the line from the loop and line runs freely until you pick up the rod to set the hook.[/#0000ff]

Thanks TD now that I'm dry and warm again I'll get started on them. HHmmmmmmmm wonder if I can get the wife to go *shopping* at the hardware store.

[cool][#0000ff]Dream on! What kinda smelly jelly have you been snortin'? Don'tcha know that is one of the big No-No's in marriage? Never give a woman a shopping list for guy things...like at home depot. That would be almost as bad as taking a shopping list from her...to go to Bed, Bath and Beyond. Puh-leeeeeze!. (Victoria's Secret is okay)[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I did not take as many pics as I had planned to. Lemme know if you need clarification on any of the pieces or measurements. I know you know your way around PVC, but I'd be glad to pass on a couple of time savers if you need em.[/#0000ff]

I didn't even ask LOL just went to the hardware store and bought what I didn't have left over from my last project.

TD that's a sweet setup! With those poles sticking up like that, how many times have you been 'checked' by the Fish&Game dudes for thinking you've got multiple poles in the water? Maybe they already know you by sight and leave well enough alone heheh
Can't wait to try UL Sunday!

[cool][#0000ff]I seldom get checked by DWR, but it is always just the standard license check, usually either before or after I am on the water. I've never been boarded by the Coast Guard either.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Both TubeBabe and I get a lot of interest from boaters and bankers. Sound travels well over the water and we both laugh when we hear some of the comments, like "Looka all those fishin' poles that guy's got"[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]TubeBabe gets a big charge out of hearing something like that, then as the boat gets closer she hears "My gawd. That's a women in that there belly boat."[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Here's a pic I just got from the Tribune photographer who was with us last Wednesday, on our kitty floatilla. He took a shot as I was fighting my only catfish of the day. I normally try to get the second rod in before setting the hook on the fish, but this one was in close to the weeds and I did not have time to let him run too far. So, you can see how the second rod sticks out on the bait rigger and usually stays out of the way pretty good...unless an active kitty wants to spin me around in the tube a few times.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Good luck on Sunday. I ordered some nice weather and good fishing for you. Hope my order gets through okay.[/#0000ff]
