Gonna be looking for BIG Bass in the next couple of weeks at Pelican Lake - I have never been there.
Directions to get there, hotels in the area, camping possibility, and of course, anybody willing to give up a bit of info on the lake, water temps, techniques, etc. PM me if you want.

] I don't think you will find many big bass in Pelican although there are a few. Most of the bass you catch will be in the 1# to 2# range and if you hit it right you can catch a bunch of them. I would go early as I hear the bugs can get real bad. I've never fished it after May. We stay in Vernal when we go, I at the Day's Inn. Vernal has much better places to eat and the distance to the lake is about the same as from Roosevelt. You can also run North of Town and fish Red Fleet or Stieneker if Pelican is off. Good Luck.

See my report. We go every May before the bugs and the skin-itch gets in the water. The fun thing about Pelican is not the SIZE of the fish, but the NUMBERS of the fish! Even though the average is only 12 to 14 inches or so, my wrist is sore right now from all the catching and untangling (The dive down and tangle your gear in reeds and you have to YANK them out!...use superlines...)
Water temp 59 to 61 degrees. Water level way way up. Go past Roosevelt, turn right at the "Randlette" sign, go for 20 minutes till you see the Pelican Lake sign. Its about 1/2 hour from Roosevelt. We stayed in Best Western and ate at McDonalds.
