The lake record for Lightning Trout wasn't just broken at Santa Ana River Lakes this past week, it was crushed. Gus Torrealba of Cerritos landed a 20-pound Lightning while fishing with Strawberry Crave Bait on Saturday. The old record, set last March by Charlie Lee of Santa Ana, was 15.6-pounds. Torrealba's trout was more than 35 percent bigger.
Torrealba is no stranger to big trout at SARL. He landed the second largest rainbow ever caught at the lake at 25.1 pounds, so landing the 20-pound Lightning record wasn't a new experience for the lake regular.
