After reading this forum last night I went to my local fishing supply store to look into float tubes. My wife and I will probably buy a couple in mid June.
Were the modifications done by the members who own the float tubes or can you buy kits for this?
I dont have any room to store a boat but I am looking into this because it looks fun.

[black][size 3]Hey SA,[/size][/black]

[black][size 3]Most of the modifications have been concocted and constructed by the proud owners of their craft. It is really easy to make the stuff from PVC/ABS - all you need is a saw and the material - and a little imagination. [/size][/black]

If you have any questions about anything in specific, feel free to ask here on this board. Lots of us have already done the R&D and made the manufacuting mistakes (several times) and we might be able to assist you is tricking out your ride.
To answer your question about whether the stuff is available in stores - some is, some is not. What is, cost a lot more. The main thing is - half the fun is making it yourself and knowing you got what you wanted and the other half is you had fun catching fish with your own creation. It may not help you at this point, but, most of my stuff gets created during the off season or off times when I can't get out to fish - it's like extending the fishing season.

WELCOME SPOKANE [cool]. IN ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION THE INDUSTRY HAS NOT COME CLOSE TO CATCHING UP TO THE CREATIVENESS OF TUBERS. ALL YOU'LL FIND IS SINGLE ROD HOLDERS AND THAT DOESN'T CUT IT. WE NEED MULTI HOLDERS, FISH FINDERS, TOOL HOLDERS, ETC. SO WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO MAKE IT OURSELVES. GOOD THING IS THAT YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE, THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST SITE TO GET IDEAS AND GUIDANCE TO MAKE YOUR ON MODIFICATIONS, SO READ A LOT AND ASK A LOT.

Thats cool, my wife and i went out looking at them this morning and will probably purchase 2 in June. I am going to continue to look for float tubes that can have modifications easily added to them. The ones i saw today ran about 57 dollars a piece but didnt look like much could be added to them.

[cool][#0000ff]If the tubes you choose seem to have good quality stitching, ample pocket space, a good back rest and several D rings around the inside and/or outside, you have a place to start. Most of the hanging goodies you see are secured by clipping or strapping to a D ring. You can also use bungee cords or just lash something on with nylon rope.[/#0000ff]
