I had the pleasure of fishing with Don on Saturday and we headed to 11 Mile. Due to my serious lack of success on finding the pike (0-3) I booked a guided trip a couple of months back and was hoping the June 3rd date would be late enough that the Pike would be biting.
We fished with Larry from 11 Mile Guide Service (http://www.11milesports.com/...ingguideservice.html). Upon arriving Larry let us know that the Konakee and trout were a pretty good bite so we opted to concentrate on some good eating fish in the am. Fishing for the Konakee was a perfect call we had a great steady bite trolling all morning! We ended up with a good stringer of Konakee and released a number of small rainbows.
After a FRESH Konakee lunch on the grill cleaned, cooked and prepared by Larry and his son Alex (thanks guys!!!) we headed back out to see if we could get on a pike before the 2:30 trout, and Konakee bite on 11 mile heated up again. Although we opted to keep things short on the pike hunting because it is still a bit early in the season I finall got a baby Pike which works awesome for me beuase Larry was generous with suggestions of where and how to get on these fish as the season heats up. I plan on getting some more Pike practice in before 11 mile throws their annual Pike Tourney (one you don't want to miss)! After about 40 minutes of chasing Pike it was back to the rainbow and konakee. The afternoon although it did not produce as many fish as the am it was better size fish. Don landed a NICE Rainbow on the UltraLIGHT set up. The fish did not want to get in the boat, but was happy to take a couple of runs under the boat (Don faught and landed him perfect and Larry had a sweet scoop on the net). Larry is a great guide and great company on the water and I seriously doubt you can find a guide that knows more about this water then him! If you are looking for some great quality fishing with a great guide or if you just want to fast track your learning process of 11 Mile or Spinney Reservoir definetly give Larry a call!
