My fishing partner drowned at Flaming Gorge yesterday. The news that I have heard is he jumped out of his boat to retrieve his fishing net. His girlfriend was there and did not know how to operate the boat nor did she know where the life jackets were kept. To all BFT members, please make sure the other persons in the boat know how to operate the boat before you jump in. Also fill your handles on your nets with styrofoam so they will float. Please don't let this happen again on your watch. I would have been there, but I didn't have the $50 for gas to drive there and back. His brother is an active member on this board. The news of someone drowing never bothered me before untill it hit close to home.

Sorry for your loss, I taught my wife how to drive our boat last summer but I may go over it again. I had a friend that drowned at Lake Powell 3 years ago from carbon monoxide poisoning. It's amazing how "just going fishing" can turn into tragedy. Again, sorry for your loss.
