Sorry to hear about your loss and wish the best for you an your family. As a State Park Ranger, I applaud you for telling the story and trying to make people aware that such a inexpensive device can save your life. I know that they are uncomfortable but you never know when you are going to need it. Also, they are expensive, but very comfortable and are called inflatable lifejacket. I have one and wear it when I am on boat patrol and when I am fishing with my 6 year old. If he has to wear it, I have to because he makes me. Well, once again I wish you an your family the best and my thoughts and prayers go out to you.

One last pitch on wearing your lifejacket, think about the men and women who have to search for you. Believe me I have been one of those people and pardon my french it SUCKS. A good majority of the people are on a voluntary basis. Most search and rescue teams have to use there own equipment and there time is free. They do it for one reason, They like, as I do, helping others in need.

I'm so sorry about your brother, Gorgeattic. Thank you for sharing your story. I never thought about my girlfriend operating the boat if I fell out, which could happen very easily at the Gorge while hooking downriggers. I think we will have a boat lesson next time we go out.
