I've got a few questions for any who would be willing to answer: [ol] [li]At Deer Creek, would I have to pay the entrance fee into the park if I wanted to drive up there and fish between the island and the shore in my waders? I do have an older tube, but I plan on just wading where I can around the island.[/li] [li]Also regarding Deer Creek, have any of you tossed bass lures, hard baits, or anything similar in and around the flooded flats area near the Charleston turnoff road with any success?[/li] [li]Lastly, and this question is completely unrelated to the first two, have any of you ever eaten tiger muskie? I have no plans to go to Pineview in the near future, I've never caught a TM, and I'm not advocating the keeping and eating of the fish--but with all of the recent reports of various sizes of TMs being caught out of Pineview, I'm curious if any of you have ever sampled those beautiful fish. Just curious.[/li][/ol]
Many thanks in advance for the responses I receive.

1. No, if you park on the road and fish in the area away from the Island park and beaches. If you go through the gate, you have to pay. There are several turnoffs after the Island park you could pull off the side of the road and fish for free.

2. Yes and yes.

3. No, but why would one want to eat one? Perch, crappie or even bass would probably be better eating and can sustain the harvest.

[#002850]3. Yes ... I have eaten tiger musky. It would have tasted a whole lot better if I hadn't felt so damn guilty. We tried for a long time to revive a 30 pounder but ended up eating him for three weeks. Now, my son and wife who love fish, said that it tasted just fine. I thought the flavor was just a little ... shall we say ... "musky" compared to wiper or walleye ... kind of like duck is a little musky compared to chicken or phesant. Definately not in the direction of char or trout.

Here is the one we ended up eating:

I personally dont care for the tiger musky-they eat to many of my largemouth friends in PV. I did eat a 45.5 incher last year. Not sure why my brother really wanted to try it so I told him the next big one I catch is dead meat LOL!! And it tasted just as good as walleye, pech, and crappie I wouldnt know about bass its against my religion to harm them.

I have also had the same experience OC had. I caught a 41+"er that would not revive so i decided to eat it. It was one of the worst tasting fish i have ever eaten. I try very hard to get them back as soon as possible. I wouldn't advise trying to eat one.
