[cool][#0000ff]I decided to hit Yuba Reservoir, in central Utah, one last time before hot summer, in hopes of bagging my first northern pike of the year. My third cast of the morning got me a 24 incher that climbed all over a perch colored crankbait. That was the only pike of the day.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]It was cool enough when we launched that there was steam coming off the water. The air temp was only 45 and the water was 65. We kicked out into the main lake to try for some of the trout we had enjoyed a couple of weeks ago. Zipppppppppp! Hardly anything on the sonar and no biters. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]After a couple of fishless hours we decided to pack up and head for the other end of the lake...at Painted Rocks...named for Native American pictographs on some of the steep walls next to the lake. There can be some good fishing there at times.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We got there at 19 AM, just ahead of the power squadron. It was beautiful and calm as we launched for the second time, but quickly got choppy with boat wakes and a building breeze. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]After missing several hits I finally brought in a couple of 11 inch bitty rainbows. TubeBabe stuck a nice 17" football bow that jumped higher than her head and got her whoopin' and hollerin'. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Our favorite sandwich shop in the little town of Nephi was calling us at noon so we called it a day. Probably won't fish Yuba again until the water cools down in the fall and the big bows come back up to play.[/#0000ff]
