[cool][#0000ff]I decided to hit Yuba Reservoir, in central Utah, one last time before hot summer, in hopes of bagging my first northern pike of the year. My third cast of the morning got me a 24 incher that climbed all over a perch colored crankbait. That was the only pike of the day.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]It was cool enough when we launched that there was steam coming off the water. The air temp was only 45 and the water was 65. We kicked out into the main lake to try for some of the trout we had enjoyed a couple of weeks ago. Zipppppppppp! Hardly anything on the sonar and no biters. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]After a couple of fishless hours we decided to pack up and head for the other end of the lake...at Painted Rocks...named for Native American pictographs on some of the steep walls next to the lake. There can be some good fishing there at times.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We got there at 19 AM, just ahead of the power squadron. It was beautiful and calm as we launched for the second time, but quickly got choppy with boat wakes and a building breeze. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]After missing several hits I finally brought in a couple of 11 inch bitty rainbows. TubeBabe stuck a nice 17" football bow that jumped higher than her head and got her whoopin' and hollerin'. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Our favorite sandwich shop in the little town of Nephi was calling us at noon so we called it a day. Probably won't fish Yuba again until the water cools down in the fall and the big bows come back up to play.[/#0000ff]

[black][size 3]Hey TD[/size][/black],

[black][size 3]You got there at 19 am ? Wow ! I forgot that Utah is kind of in it's own time zone. Maybe I've been away too long; Could you perhaps translate that to the regular world time format ? Thanx ![/size][/black]

[cool][#0000ff]Okay, wise guy. I'm sure you realize it was a slip of the digit. But, just for you, I ain't gonna change it.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]You've lived in Utah long enough to know that it really does exist in another dimension and another time zone. Folks here are pretty casual about time and scheduling. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We actually hit the water at Painted Rocks at 10:00 AM. (that better?) As I mentioned, the power squadron got there just about the same time. The first big boat launched right behind me, as I was paddling out from the ramp. After that, there was a steady procession of big ski boats and wake runners that hit the water, and the parking area filled up. When I launched, my car was the only one in the lot.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]There is a saying that "You know you are in Utah...when you show up a half hour late and you are the first one there."[/#0000ff]

[cool][cool]Actually, I wondered if there wasn't some super secret method of keeping time once you reached the upper echelon of float tubing - kind of an elite language and time signature only accessible when you are granted the secret handshake.

[cool]Guess it just shows that though he is pretty efficient around the floating donuts and other stuff pertaining to fishing, his feet are still made of clay like the rest of us. Or is that his fingers that are made of clay (typing). Oh well, no matter.

[cool]It takes a big man to leave his error out there for all to see when editing the post would render the oopsie moot for all who come after. TD, you're a big man. (I think I'm safe making that statment no matter how it is taken.)

Thanks for all you do, Tubedude.

By the way, great report. I'm unable to get to the water right now so fishing vicariously is all I have. Love the pictures - especially that beautiful pike.

[cool]Now I gotta run. Its nearly 20 AM.

Thanks for the great report and pics. They make a good fix while I am getting homework caught up, studying for finals, and NOT fishing!

[cool][#0000ff]Yeah, I'm a big guy...in physical dimensions. Not sure about the philosophical aspects.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I was once told by a respected superior that when in a position of authority it is a good idea to make a mistake once in awhile, just to show your "underlings" that you are human. In this instance I can't claim any such lofty purpose. I just hit the wrong stupid key. And, I am leaving it there not to show how "human" I am, but just because I am too lazy to go back and edit it out.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Now, you got that straight? Not sure I do.[/#0000ff]
