I'm headed up there on monday after a tiger, I'm new to this species of fish. I think I have some of the right lures that should work good for them. my question is, is it best to troll or cast for them. also have any of you guys casted the big bucktail spinners for them ? thanks

My opinion is casting would be the best way to hook up. There is alot of submerged brush for them to hide in while they wait for an ambush opportunity. I have never cared for the bucktail spinners and have never gave them much of a chance. Basic jointed rapalas work well and the reports of the buzzbaits are impressive but the few times I have tried them they have not worked for me. Good luck hope you hook up.

Went to Pineview today and fished from shore caught 3 smallmouth but talked to some people in a boat and they were having success with spinnerbaits for the tigers. They said they had caught 2 and missed more. So I guess a spinnerbait would woork plus you could catch some smallmouth with the same lure.

Toss everything you have until you find something that works. I like to start out trolling to cover more area, especially in the early a.m., then about 8 a.m. start to cast. It the bite is on, they will hit almost anything, but if they are more selective, take 25 casts with a lure and then switch.
