Hello all, just wanted to give a little update on where I went Saturday morn.. I was lucky enough to get all my chores done on friday so decided to go out on sat, well I went to a place in layton called holmes creek, its a little pond in the middle of the city, i had heard about it sometime ago, so i decided to go to give it a try, and to my surprise it was really really good!! i got my tube out around 7 7:30 and i used beetle spins and some other goofy bait that i bought at gart brothers called a tiny torpedo, i would just cast out and reel back and when i would reel back it made a sound on the water then the bass would come out of nowhere and whamo! well i must have caught around 15 to 20 bass on this little pond a couple of them were pretty good maybe 2.5 pounds, it was alot of fun just wanted to share with everyone incase anyone is thinking of going... it was a ton of fun
remember: keep on fishing and keep tight lines

You're not allowed to have a float tube or any other type of water craft on holmes creek.

well didn't know that, and no one said anything... where did you hear that from or who? will i get a ticket? dang i better watch out i guess huh

If you were actually fishing on Holmes Creek Res. it is illegal to fish from a boat or tube. There are signs around the lake stating this along with no swimming. You can find it listed on page 20 of the fishing proclamation along with other lakes or reservoirs that have restrictions in the state. I'm glad you had a good day fishing there in your tube but if Officer Friendly catches you it could be a little pricey[

Hey Packfan, I am sorry that I fished Holmes creek in my tube, helll relax man, what are you a proclamation? I NEVER seen any signs all the way around the pond because I never walked all the way around the pond, I think I did see a sign over toward the dam but I wasnt for sure, anyhow it was a fun time I guess I won't be doing that again.. course it was alot of fun catching bass, maybe I will....lol keep a tight line fellas and packfan thanks again for the heads up, and thanks for keeping everyone inside the guidelines of fishing procedures...

Packfan is right. Dont ruin it for everyone. Those procs are there for a reason.

My intensions were not to ruin it for everyone, but just to go out and have a great time on the water I have heard in the past people who have float tubed the pond so I decided to give it a shot, and like I said the fishing was excellent, hey srbbassin, maybe you should stick to trying, the keyword trying to catch a muskie, god knows you need all the help you can get... try not to worry about what pond I fished, I will never let it happen again and I am sorry for not reading the proc, maybe srb, you could spend a little more time fishing and a little less time on BFT trying to bring others down.....

[unsure] Ease up man. I had a good friend die in holmes creek. There is a reason they have procs. Dont attack my fishing because you dont have time. I saved up for a long time to get my custom toon. I really like the opportunity to catch big muskie. I appreciate you like to work over the dink pond bass, but there are others out there who like to catch real fish. If you ever want to go for muskie I will be happy to show you what to do.

I thought I was eased up when i said " My intensions were not to ruin if for everyone, but just to go out and have a good time" and I also appologized to everyone for not reading the proc, I am truley sorry about your good friend, but me going there fishing Holmes creek is not my fault, so please once again get the hell off my back dude. What is your problem with me, hell I don't even know you, have never even seen you before in my life, all i was doing is sharing information to others, the way this site is intended and you blow the hell up at me " chill out dude" I am also just getting into the sport of bass fishing, I thought that I could come on here and be pleasantly introduced to it by reading some of the post and sharing my experiences with others so that I can too learn about bass fishing, if you read my other post you will see that I just want to learn... 1 word of advice to you srbbassin your mom or dad probably taught you this when you were young, seems you forgotten already " IF YOU CAN NOT SAY SOMETHING NICE, PLEASE DO NOT SAY ANYTHING AT ALL"
REAL MEN CATCH BASS....LOL

Those are some pretty impressive numbers. I used to fisht there alot, but could never catch more then a few. What time of the day were you there? Were the bass close to shore? I'll have to try a topwater next time I go.
[signature]
[pirate] POINT TAKEN. Would you like to go fishin sometime?
[signature]
Yep they were close to shore, I fished it in the morning over by the north side, there were a bunch of lilly pad looking things in the water, it was alot of fun, but looking back on it know I probably should not have posted, I think I made some people upset at me....
Have you been seeing what srbbassin has been writing? I think he is pretty upset, maybe because I caught alot and he can't or didn't.. some people get pretty darn jealous when others are catching fish... anyhow I talked to one guy on the bank that day and he wasn't catching anything at the time I talked to him anyways, but I told him how I was catching them and he was going to see what he had in his tackle box, if i would have had another one of them topwater things i would have given it to him oh well have fun.. keep tight lines

I fished Holmes about 3 years ago on the ice and spent the whole day over there with a fish finder and 4 tackle boxes of stuff without so much as a bite. The next summer i fished it with my fly rod from the dam and nocked the crap out of the gills, green sunfish, and small bass. I have seen schools of larger bass cruising about 30' from shore but they wouldn't hit anything.
Hey guys, chill out![

] There is no reason to be doing this. Hell i told everybody i fished with perch in a community pond and was kindly reminded of my mistake. I am thankful for the info because it saved a ticket for sure.(Thanks Cat_Man again.) The wealth of info here is like nothing i have ever seen and the people are great. Lets all have fun and enjoy our sport.

Thank you I appreciate your kindness...
I don't know if I hit it on a good day or what but those fish were going crazy, I remember fishing it when I was really young and there used to be some good fish in there, and I'm sure there still is, I had a buddy catch about a 6lb walleye in there, don't ask me how but I swear to ya he caught it, hey srbbassin lets for sure go out and wet a line together okay, I would love to go fishing with ya, if you like trout that is my expertise I will take you to do that and you can show me how to bass fish and muskie fish, I don't have a toon but I have a pretty sweet float tube let's for sure hook up k, I would love to catch a muskie, I hear they stink quite a bit though.....
thank you very much lunkerhunter for the kind words, it means alot to me.... tight lines always

Don't forget about the "slime factor" on the tigers. It is like you are in the Ghost busters movie chasing the goo! It is wicked nasty and you might vomit after the release!! LMAO!!![sly][sly][sly]
[signature]
That is one problem I would be welcome to have!!! Of course I have yet to even go up there to try for a tiger! I plan to get up there late summer/early fall when my father in law does a triathlon up there.
Gotta combine trips since gas costs so dang much and I live in payson.
btw, you're welcome - [cool][

Hey fishtyd, do you live over by holmes creek? What is the name of the other pond off of highway 193. I hear that has some state record sunfish in it?
[signature]
I fished holms creek about 4 times this last winter, the fishing was slow but caught a few. All together I caught a 14 in. LMB, a 7 in. blue gill, two 10 in. white bass, and a 19 in walleye. Have been wanting to get up there again, but have been to busy at pineview. Also, when cleaned, I looked at what the fish had been eating (at holmes) and found them to have a small worm in the guts. I did the same for the smally's I caught out of pineview last week and found the same worm, and also 3 tape worms crawled out of one of the fishes mouth, kinda nasty. Any who, I would like to get back to holmes, if anyone wants to meet up some time, let me know.
