Eagle Valley fishing report Ursine Nevada July 2

Well, we had a great fishing & camping trip at our old haunts at Spring Valley State Park. Thanks to Ranger Pete G. ( and all the others I have not met) for keeping the peace and making the place look great. Thanks for chasing out the site savers. Sue, Jack & I, (& the hounds) made the trip up. Ma Carey was missed (she always does the dishes!) We left late Thursday night from Vegas; we hit some scattered thunderstorms on the way up & every evening at the camp. Fishing was great with Jack catching the first fish (worth a dollar, I will remind you!), and Sue catching the Most -23, & the biggest- a 1.5 lb. rainbow. I caught a cold. We all caught our first Tiger Trout. This is a cross between Brown & Brook Trout. We used Panther Martins, Mepps spinners & Jake Lures all dressed with worm parts. We also trolled single little no hook spinners with a 1foot tippet then a worm on a barb-less long shank hook. Silver was the color of the day. The water was murky. The reeds at far end of the reservoir did not produce like it usually does. The middle of the lake was best. Folks were catching all over. The Wasatch Lobster bite looked like it was just warming up. Kids were hauling about 75 daddies after a days fishing. (They were using fish parts, which I read as being illegal to fish with, even for crayfish.) They were having a great time. I bet they squirmed when they put them in the pot! The kids & the crawdads! The Storm & Strife gave me a pass for the stream & it did not disappoint. Some 12 inch German Browns aggressively went after my Mantuka (?) wooly bugger looking thing with a tail. The rain came down while I was in there. I hunkered down & was apparently in the favorite spot of a big tawny muley doe. I do not know who was more surprised, her or I! She snuck in but made a noisy exit. That was the closest I have ever been to a mule deer (alive). We saw other fat does & lots of stock & horses. We went for the firewood run at the chained area & saw 3 yotes near a stock tank. Eagle-eye Jack nabbed an Elk shed. The windmill was pumping & the water was sweet. Well there ya go!

Thanks for the report, seems like a nice place to get out of the heat.
Do they have any Horsepower restrictions on the lake?

There are no HP restrictions that I know of. I have seen some I/Os on it . The resevoir is pretty small for a big boat though. There is a nice concrete ramp & a dock with spots to moor you boat.

Sounds good, my boat's not that big 21' with 90hp honda.
some of the smaller lakes in the eastern have a 15hp max so I was just curious before I haul the boat all the way up there.
Thanks again for the info.
