Planning a trip this weekend to Fish, Sand, and Round Lakes. I have never been there before and my topo doesnt show the trail. Anyone know where the trail head is?

It's at the top of Weber Canyon (above oakley), and the trail starts by/in Holladay Park on the road oposite the one that goes to Smith and Morehouse reservoir. TheTrail head is on the east side of the road, and is marked by a Utah Hiking Trail sign and Trail-log/registration podium (assuming it's still there). It's a lot of fun up there, but be sure to pack the repellent. The Grayling feed primarily on Midges, and Mosquitos so there's plenty to be found. If spin fishing or casting a fly rod take small black midges, griffiths knats, small renegades, and peacock hackles. If using a spinning rod, you can fish the flies behind a clear bubble half filled with water, and about a 2-3 ft 3lb leader. Some small spinners also work well, but I'm more of a fly fisherman, and I'm not sure what to recommend in that area. As for the Brookies, the standard size Gold Jakes is the ticket most of the time. I also remember having pretty good sucess catching brook trout on the stream leaving Fish lake at the top. Here you can use small Panther Martins or Mepps Spinners, and have a blast. Plan on about 1.5 hours hiking in if in fair physical condition or 2+ if in marginal condition. Take a lot of water or pack a good filtration system as the trail is fairly steep going in, and it can drain you pretty good if not prepared. We ran out about a half hour before we arrived at the vehicle the last time we went. Also, make sure to watch the clock. It's real easy to loose track of time up there, and have to hike out in the dark. It's typically that much fun! Be safe! [cool]

Great info, thanks. I am planning on camping up there, so no need to worry about getting out before dark.
[red]There are a couple different ways to get in there. The little ranger station in Kamas has some good descriptions of the trails. It takes me 3-4 hours with a full back pack heading uphill anyhow. Enjoy![/red]
