So I'm heading to Strawberry tomorrow for the first time this year. (Sad, I know) It is also my first fishing trip this year.

Anyway, I'm taking my new wife and her 2 kids with and I want to really show them how fun fishing can be. Their only fishing before was the 'sit and wait' fishing from shore, and that was YEARS ago. I don't think the kids have ever actually been.

I will be taking the boat and I'm really hoping to get some good advice from this board so she doesn't decide this is a useless or boring hobby.

I used to fish Strawberry a couple of time a month about 2 - 3 years ago, and regularly posted information on this board about what I found working, not working, etc. Now I'm just hoping to be on the receiving end of that.

Thanks!

See MGB's most recent post about his jigging last weekend - he is the Berry jig master. I'm going this week and plan on jigging in the vicinity of the ladders with 3-4" white or white flecked tubes. Spend the time to find the fish, mark them with buoy or GPS, and stay over them. Bites are very light, so you have to pay attention and be ready to set the hook fast. I also use a light weight- medium action rod to detect the bites easier.

As you know, Strawberry can humble even the best angler this time of year. That said, I had some good luck last Sunday jigging 3" tube jigs tipped with meat/worms in the ladders area (40' depth). Since you'll have a few kids on board, they'll probably get really bored if you just troll around all day. If you have a fishfinder on your boat, look for active fish in the Mud creek and or Ladders area. Once your on top of a good group of fish, drop down jig's or bait. The fish will move, so you may have to move to stay into fish. Good Luck.
