I have a friend that I have been trying to get out fishing with for a long time and he said he can finally go so i need some advice on a few waters here are the lakes on the list of possibles.
strawberry: for kokes and cuts
flaming gorge: for kokes and mackinaw(need some advice on time of day for macks)
starvation: for walleye, perch, smallmouth, and browns
Pineview: for tiger musky (definitely need some help here as far as time of day depth etc. (I will release them don't worry))
willard: for wipers (may do a pineview/willard combo)

Or any other lakes that I should consider just post them. Anyway thanks for all the advice in the past,
Jed Burton
p.s. I have a 17ft trihull (1978) with dual downriggers so If I need to troll deep I can.

Jed it depends upon what you are trying to accomplish. If you are trying for quantity of decent fish I would head for Strawberry. If the person has caught plenty of fish before and is looking for something larger consider Pineview or FG. If he has never caught a wiper, sounds like now is a good time to go after them, especially in the evening.

Would you be trolling? Do you have an electric trolling motor?

I have an electric trolling motor, but I usually use either my main engine or my 10horse gas to troll with, but yes I have both and yes I do troll,

HIT WILLARD. IF HE HOOKS A WIPER HE WILL BE WITH YA EVERY CHANCE HE CAN GET.

Starvation has had some good reports for trolling and catching multispecies on worm harness . But if it was me I would choose the Pineview/Willard combo. The musky fishing is starting to get a little slow, you have to really slow down and downsize your offering to be successful. The reason I asked about an electric motor is because this will be the best way to catch musky (in my opinion) casting lures to the submerged weeds (you will also catch alot of Bass doing this). I havn't had very much success trolling for musky.
As for Willard, if you hit it later in the evening you can troll lipless cranks or curly tails while keeping a close eye for Boils and have a very productive couple hours of catching especially if you get into a boil or two. I guarantee if you see a couple Boils your friend will ask to go more often!!
Good luck wherever you go, and good fishing!!!

[cool][#0000ff]C'mon Jed, I know you go fishing a lot, but you never post reports anymore. Yet everytime you do post, it is asking for info that has been posted in recent reports by other members.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We are here for everyone who wants or needs help. But it is a two way street. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Before you ask someone to provide a complete rundown on all the lakes and streams, try checking the archives and recent reports, and don't get impatient when you don't get an immediate outpouring...especially when you ask for so much on so many different waters...without providing specifics on what you really want and how you will be fishing. Not fair.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I hope you don't think I am picking on you, but you need to do your own homework first and then ask more specific questions on specific waters. [/#0000ff]

no problem. I wasn't impatient I was just noticing that my post was pushed way down on the second page and wanted to bring it up to the top so it would get seen. I had already looked at all the post for those lakes. I just wanted some fresh info on those bodies of water. Lastly the only reason you haven't seen many reports from me this year is that internet access at work is limited and my time and internet access at home has been almost nothing. As soon as I can get internet access again I will have a huge post to make on the last few trips as well as a bunch of pics to post. As to the report for last week I will post it right away. Unfortunately I will have to post the pics later,

I just read your post and I am kicking myself for not deciding to head out there instead which is what my gut instinct was the whole time. Don't worry about me getting offended or anything I am pretty thick skinned and easy going so it takes a lot more than some good advice to get me riled up. I took your comments in the spirit they were given don't worry. Thanks again for all the advice you have given and the information as well. It is something I have always appreciated. Anyway I hope to get out on the water again next week, but I have a lot on the docket for the next few weeks. I may be moving to texas this fall or next spring and have to figure things out so my fishing may be a little sparse, but with any luck I will be able to pull one more trip on next monday,

[cool][#0000ff]Want company on Monday? I'm not free, but I'm reasonable.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Planning another trip to Starvation next Wednesday if you can swing it.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We need to talk about that Texas thing. Been there, done that, wouldn't do it again. Lived and worked in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Some good fishin' but man what you gotta live with and put up with. Still, you are too young to retire so you need to explore all of your options. Hope it all works out for you.[/#0000ff]

monday is my day off so that is when I would have to go, but there is a small chance I can get away for the morning on wed, we will have to see. If you want to come along monday I can probably swing that, but I will just have to see. Give me a call on sunday and I will see what I can figure out,

[cool][#0000ff]Don't worry your pretty little head about Monday. I am probably not going to be able to make that one anyway. But...Wednesday is a go. Got another tuber (not TubeBabe) going in my car so I'm full. Should have plenty of fishing in before noon.[/#0000ff]
