Sneeking out of town to night to do some stream fishing in the UIntah's. Will definitely hit the upper Provo around Soapstone, then will go higher, Moosehorn or Mirror, then might stop by the Sulphur CG. I'll be draging my old map of the area and will look for some easy hiking (maybe) and we'll see what happens. Mainly looking to get out of the "HOT" weather of the valley.

REturned to the heat in the valley yesterday around 5PM,just another scorcher down here. Weather was great up in the Uintahs probably mid 80's. We fished the Upper Provo starting Saturday evening around 7 til dark, hooked up with a few Ray landed a nice bow on his second cast and I caught about 4-5 bows and 2 lures (rooster tail & Daredevil) in the time we were there. Then we retrested from the waters to find a camp site. Found one but could not find matches to light the lanters, back down the canyon to Samak and bought some junk to go with the matches. And back up the canyon to find the camp site. Since we were sleeping the back of the truck we didn't have to work very hard to get ready so we dropped the tailgate of the truck set up the lanterns popped out the mini grill and cooked up some spicy Italian sausages, sucked down some cold beers and hit the sack. Only one problem, I never sleep the first night out in the wild, some child catrostrophe or something to do with bears as a kid, anyway I didn't knod off untilaround 2:30Am when a mosquitehawk started making a racket in the back of the truck,it woke both of us up, crap! Finally back to sleep and something else comes scuttling around the truck, probably a coon or something like that, crashed again, woke around 6:30. headed up the canyon hit one of the small lakes just below trial, should have rigged up the flyrods, but we were lazy, started throwing Panther Martins and we were getting solid hits I caught a nice fat bow and Ray caught his first ever albino and another bow, then the crowd showed up. In a matter of minutes we had people throwing line out right in front of us so we took our fish and headed towards "Amber Creek" Hayden fork of the Bear River (Suphur CG) but the CG was full lots of people were fishing, I caught one scrawny brookie and we were history. Headed back down the canyon to fish the Upper Provo below Soapstone, unpacked the mini grill, and cooked the remaining sausages and the 3 fish we had caught. Only spice I had was some salt and pepper but we had crackers & some really good chips. Crunched up some of those added spices shook them up and grilled them up, yummy. Fished for a while catching lots of bows and brookies nothing big most fingerlings. HEaded back up the canyon towards Trial Lake, what a mess! Parking lot full, it looked like they were fishing elbow to elbow, bagged it went ot Mirror Lake, it was almost as bad there, we did finally find a place to fish but after a could hours no luck headed towards home could drive any longer started falling asleep at the wheel pulled off found a shady place to park, crawled into the back of the truck and crashed for half an hour, woke up feeling refreshed and hit the pavment for the drive back to good old SLC valley and the furnace that is brewing. I had a good time, wish I had one more day, then I would have spent the last day on the "Nell". But still an OK trip, lost very little gear 1 lure only but found 2.

I think it is the altitude that makes you tired. Every time i go up there i get tired on the way back or in the middle of the day.
