Dear Utahns:
Looking for info on the best spots to camp around Navajo Lake near DuckCreek. We are looking for a good spot to set up "Camp Gopher Beer." We are heading that way the weekend of the 12th. Will have an old stout tent trailier (she has'nt complainied yet after being towed down some rough 4x tracks) with a canoe. Any fish reports or information is appreciated. Thanks for having such a nice state!

Wish I could help ya out, however there are a bunch of folks on this board that probably can. Just wanted to comment on the great name you have for your camp[

There are several campgrounds in that area, many right there along Hwy 14. From west to east, mileage from Cedar City:
Cedar Canyon 11 miles
Deer Haven (50+ people group campsite) 16ish miles
Duck Creek 30 miles
Spruces 25+3 miles
Navajo Lake 25+4 miles
Te-Ah 28 miles
If you're looking for the place most accomodating to your trailer, go with Navajo Lake or Duck Creek. These have the most amenities. Of the two, Navajo Lake campground sits right near the lake on Forest Road 058, while Duck Creek is back on the Highway.
If you want to stay away from it, try Cedar Canyon. That may not be the best option for you on the weekend, as it's closest to Cedar City and you may find more local weekenders there, but a lot of folks pass it by in favor of one of the more concentrated campgrounds.
There are plenty of other places to camp in the region (four other campgrounds near Panguitch Lake come to mind) as well.
Reservations are accepted at all of the campgrounds near Navajo Lake except the Navajo Lake Campground itself. Most also have first-come, first-served sites available as well though. Check
www.reserveusa.com to see what's available.
I don't have much of a fishing report from there, but there are others here who may. There was a thread here in late June/early July about Navajo Lake.
Let me know if you have any questions about the campsites there or want more details.
