I have a Mercury 6HP 4S, works well on a 19' Cuddy from 0.8MPH to 5MPH. Instead of the remote troll, I have a connecting rod that goes from the outdrive to the kicker motor, I also use an electronic Troll Master speed control unit. I can steer and have a throttle control from the steering console. I think it is much easier to steer with the wheel than a joystick.
The connecting rod attaches to a shaft I made to replace the bolt that holds the skeg on the outdrive, the link between the outdrive and kicker attaches with quick release ball couplers, the ball on the kicker is attached to the under side of the kickers cowl. The link is wrapped in foam so it floats. Pretty slick system, costs lot less than a remote troll.
