My folks are planning to go camping this weekend, and Saturday is the opening day of the bow-hunt (I think). We were planning to go up to Strawberry, but not if it is going to be over crowded with hunters.

What are some lakes that that have crappy hunting (ie fewer hunters)?

Don't worry, it's the bow hunt not general rifle. I would bet that no matter whare you went you would see very few hunters. BH (Bow Hunters) are trying not to be seen, or heard or smelled.
Archers try to hit a target from as far away as possible, BH try to get as close as they can before shooting. There is not a big safety issue with bow hunters.

I would go to Strawberry and enjoy myself. Catch a few crawdads, release a few cutts, see if the Kokes are up to the hatchery yet, breathe that cool mountain air. Don't worry about the bow hunters.

Agreed. Most bow hunters will be up in the NF lands, not camped in the state campgrounds. They are trying to avoid crowds, as are the deer. Also, the numbers are considerably smaller than the general deer hunt, which draws over 90,000 hunters.

I would get an early start on Fri if possible. If you do decide to go to the Berry, I would go get your spot as early in the day on Fri as you could. I went late two years ago on the Friday night before the hunt and had a very hard time finding a spot. The bow hunt is becoming very popular. There were also a lot fo people just camping. It is getting close to school starting and there are a lot of family rebellions going on. Have a good time, Jake
