Does anyone have any more information on the Cache Valley man who was missing at Bear Lake yesterday? They reported on the 10 o'clock news that a capsized boat was discovered yesterday and the man was missing. That was all the details they had last night.

Be safe out there and wear your PFD's, especially in this cold weather. I'm sorry to say if that guy went over, hypothermia wasn't too far off in 33 degree water and who can swim with all that warm clothing on?

The last thing I figure a guy ought to do is venture out on thin ice or rough water by himself in winter. Like BLM said, water that cold, it dont matter how good a swimmer you are, its over. 33 degre water will drop your core temp fast and you wont get it back with the wind blowing. For sure wear your live vest, but man, be smart dont be the only boat on the water especially if you are in a smaller boat. Too bad about the missing guy. you sure would like to hear he got out somehow.

He's the brother of a fellow I work with, who is taking it pretty hard. Out of respect for the family, I'll let the media announce the name.

I am new and this may be a stupid question but what are PFD's.

Another precaution when alone is to tether yourself to your boat. A boat on the water can be blown away in the slightest of breezes and a swimmer will never catch it; espiecally one whom is heavily clothed. That tether could mean the difference between a crap day for you or a crappy life for your family.

Well said B.L.M., Saftey should always be the first thing we think of .2 or 3 years ago I lost an uncle to a fishing boat tip over on the Snake River up above Id.Falls and he was a very experinanced boater. It took 2 weeks of searching before his body turned up!!I know what that family is feeling and my heart goes out to them, god bless,M.H.
