I fished Yuba from shore for a couple of hours while the kids were swimming. I was surprised to catch 2 bass (I think largemouth) about 7 inches long. Also caught a couple carp and had a monster rainbow on before he took me down into the brush and I ended up breaking him off. Had about 10 other hits that I missed. All in all, a decent fishing trip.

I was using my minnow traps with bread to catch some of the minnows I could see in the shallows, but couldn't get them to come in. Any ideas on what to use for those things? This setup is automatic at e-lake and the likes for the red sided shiners. What other baits are you guys using in your traps. If a guy had a net, I'm sure he could catch hundreds as they're really thick.

Try Dog food, it works for me!

MIX A LITLE FISH OIL IN WITH THE BREAD CRUMBS. OR CHOOSE EASY AND BUY DOG FOOD.

Dry or canned?

both dry and canned work good, I usually use dry but that is because I usually have the dry dog food.

Usually I put a little trout bait in with the bread like old dried powerbait, zeekes, or marshmellows. Draws them in pretty good most times.

Are you talking about the tiny minnows you see by the millions? The ones I see at Yuba are too small to catch in the net or traps I use. They swim right out the holes. I haven't been there in a while to see if the minnows are bigger but the little ones won't stay in a trap. I had to use a super fine mesh landing net and surprise them by the rocks. Good luck.

Yep, those are the ones I'm talking about. Maybe they are all swimming out of the trap when I pull it up. I just figure that they all can't be that small. Can't help but think anything tipped with one of those would do great at Yuba.
