hey guys. my dad just gave me his old tube, due to the fact my sister sat on and tore a huge gap in my old tube. so far this tube has proved me well. though paddeling back to shore kind of hurt the units downstairs if you catch my drift. the center strap is not quite right i think. but anyways, what are the essentials of a "fully loaded" float tube. obviously a rod holder 1 on my right side (im right handed), how many would you all recommend i have on my left side, i used to go with 3(1 extra spinning, 1 baitcaster, 1 fly). im not much of a sonar fish finder guy, but i imagine i may get the old bottom line my dad used on it, where should i put it? as far as gear i dont really have a whole lot of tackle, enough to fill just about all the pockets up. what sort of tools should i have out on the water? thanks for your tid bits guys and gals

First thing first. GET THAT STRAP THING WORKED OUT! That is about the only advice that I can give, being new to the tube myself. There are plenty of guys, and gals on here to help out. Quite the group of knowledge here in the tube section.

[cool][#0000ff]Hey guy, you need to come down to my place in Salt Lake. I will get your tube all tricked out for you. I have a garage full of PVC, nylon rope and all the other stuff we will need to fancy up that tube. As you know, I am somewhat familiar with it myself. Used to be part of my floatilla.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Don't know what to tell you about the crotch strap thing. The only remedy is to make sure it is properly adjusted so that you sit right and don't slide forward too much. Also, when I was still ridin' in round tubes I had a piece of 3" extra firm foam rubber that I cut to fit on the seat. It soaked up water and did squish down some, but provided more cushion and bit more height.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You really need to work some overtime and get into an open ended craft. You will wonder how you ever fished in anything else. In fact, if you wanna come fishing with me and your dad sometime, I will bring an extra Fat Cat for you to try. You still haven't gone fishing with me, you know.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Too bad about your tube. You gotta watch out for sisters. I had one too. Man, she trashed my comic books and a lot of my other stuff. I never could figure out why some people had to be afflicted with sisters.[/#0000ff]

haha, work some over time. come on TD, we may not have fished together yet, but you know me better than that, lol. I plan to get out with you guys here soon. girls going off to college, going to have a lot more fishing time. I was planning on getting an open ended craft here in a bit, how much do they run? as for coming to your house to fix the tube up, i am game. I will be in salt lake monday afternoon/evening. afterall monday is payday.

[cool][#0000ff]I think your dad has been here, but I will send you my address, phone number and instructions by PM. I will be around all day Monday. Shouldn't take long to get you rigged up.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]There are lots of V boats and Uboats on the market. Don't know how much you want to spend, but you might put a post on the Utah board letting everybody know that you are looking. Might be some nice tuber who is upgrading or getting out of tubing that has something at a good price. I will help you to review anything offered and let you know if it is a good deal or not.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Otherwise, a good longterm investment would be an Outcast Fish Cat or a Creek Co. ODC 420. They run about $150 new and are great for the money. If you can find a good used one, so much the better.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you are really tight for money, you can get some Griggs tubes for about $60 at Sportsmans. They are pretty good for the money and will get rid of the crotch strap. We don't wanna interfere with your lovelife.[/#0000ff]
