I hit the "Nelle" on Sunday morning with UnclerRay. We headed out @ Rockcliff around 8:30AM and started catching small perchies for bait. After half an hour we had 10 small perchies ready to cut up and and had already landed 1 SMB around 8", then the fun began we found the perch honey hole and began pulling some nice perch all around 10" & fat. after we moved around a while UncleRay for a sweet spot for SMB and landed 1 @ 16" 1.75LBS and another 13" and just over 1LB, then hooked another but it flipped off at the boat. The bite ended around 11:30 after that we could get anything to bite no mater what we used. We stuck around until 2:30PM then headed home.

We met up with Pikeman and his son had a good chat before hitting the water, then we met up later on the lake to check out how we were doing and they headed out to the other side of the lake. Ray took pics so he'll post them when he gets a chance.

When you thinking about? A last summer fling & perch party? The perch were so active (very little ones) that you could see the ripple effect as they hit the water surface, it looked like rain drops hitting the surface but in a wave sometimes the wave would run for a hundred feet other times it looked like boils on the surface. I caught the first 10 fish in about 5 minutes or less using a panther martin (1/32 oz) and nothing else on it. when I did sweeten it with perch meat I could just drop it down and a few inches and watch them hit it (all little ones) I even had one jump out of the water as I was pulling up the line to recast the lure with some perch meat on it.

[cool][#0000ff]Yeah, let's plan something. I have a propane deep fryer. We could go out fishing, fillet them up and do a glut. Potluck goodies for the side dishes.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have been neglecting Jordanelle with all of the other fishing going on. I need to correct that. Will be hitting Starvation tomorrow. Now there is some REAL perch action, for big perch.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]By the way, it is fun to play with the "tiddlers" that you can see, but if you want bigger perch you usually have to get out into deeper water and serve up something bigger and slower. I do well with large roadrunner bait bugs, with perch meat on them. Only problem is that the smallies sometimes won't leave it alone. [/#0000ff]

Ray found that out Sunday! We were fishing for perch & he nailed 3 smallies on the same spot. On Ultralight tackle & 4lb line it was a true test of patience and fun to watch.

Think about the perch/smallie party @ the "Nelle" it would be fun to get the crew together again.

Gotta, time for that nasty 4 letter word [#bf0000][size 5]W O R K![/size][/#bf0000]

[cool][#0000ff]You pick a day and time and we will make it happen. Your schedule is a bit more rigid than mine.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Just pick a day with no W and when the fish are biting. Yeah right. If you could do that all the time you could retire rich, as a fishing consultant.[/#0000ff]

What are you doing the next 2 weekends, that is my best bet for now. No horse shows for Dakota are scheduled in that time frame after that the next 2 weekends are full. Best Day for me is on a Sunday. Also Ray will be going out of town for a week and I think that is next weekend, something about the 13th.

[cool][#0000ff]For us, this weekend is out, and we will be at the kids pond at the fair Sunday the 17th. Dance card is pretty full for a couple of weeks.[/#0000ff]

No problem, the next perch party & all out get together may have to be when the ice is on the ponds. And that would be OK too.
