[size 1]Hi I have read many posts here and several other boards and ordered a ODC 420 from Cabelas today (they do not stock this tube in store) I have noticed one thing in my search that the ODC 420 is not a stocked item in one of the largest states (and one of the warmest) Texas. I called Creek Co. and asked where could I see a 420? There answer Sportsmans Warehouse (stopped see all Float Tubes in TX) and Cabelas (does not stock in store) wow what a untaped market. I mean you could use a float tube what maybe 12 out of 12 months. We have some power plant lakes that never go below 70F! Well I digress. Has anyone used the Jim Teeny Rod Holder?

Thanks for the bandwidth

HEY THERE KEVIN WELCOME ABOARD. YOU MADE A GOOD CHOICE IN TUBES, ONE THAT I PERSONALLY USE AND LOVE. PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS ARE AFTER YOUR MAIDEN VOYAGE. AS FOR ROD HOLDERS I FOR ONE LIKE MANY ON THIS BOARD LIKE TO TINKER AROUND AND MAKE OUR OWN VS GOING OUT AND BUYING ONE, BUT I'M SURE SOMEONE ELSE HERE HAS USED THEM AND WILL BE ABLE TO CHIME IN. IF YOU DO DECIDE TO MAKE YOUR OWN THERE ARE PLENTY OF IDEAS HERE TO GO AROUND. ONCE AGAIN WELCOME ABOARD [cool]

Thanks. This Float Tube will be my second craft. My first craft is a WS Tarpon 120 Yak what has many a hole drilled into it (for everything from rod holders to retracting outriggers) BUT I thought best not to drill on the tube. [Wink] I wanted something light that I can use when bushwacking to a fishing hole when such things as wire fence, gates, pot holed paths and a long haul make get the yak to the water. I picked up the Creek Co. back packing straps (now on sale for $6 on their web site) and I also bought one of the rod holders also on sale $10 same site.

[cool][#0000ff]Welcome aboard Kevin. You are right about Texas being a good state for tubing. Just gotta watch out for reptiles on some of the waters, at least during warmer weather. Those power plant lakes are great in the winter too.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I am not familiar with the Teeny rod holder, but he makes good stuff. Most of us make our own rod holders out of PVC or other tubing. You can buy multi-tube rod holders but they are not designed for tubing. If you have not wandered around the site and found our picture board, here's a [url "http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi?post=202149;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread"]LINK TO ROD HOLDERS.[/url][/#0000ff]

Love that tube!! I'm thinking the same thing,, I want one! Same here, Cabelas did not have one in the store. Gonna try Sportsman's Warehouse this weekend.

See ya on the water,

Good luck with Sportsman's Warehouse. Cabelas should order you one and it will come in 7-10 days....and you do not have to pay the shipping.

I got the ODC420 on Saturday and took her out for the first time today. I loved it and I caught fish to boot! I had plenty of room but still need a better rod holder....Will look at the Scotty this week. I bought some US Diver Fins which are the kind for boots and they worked great. My butt did get wet but it was what I thought it would be. I bought a pump from Bass Pro and boy did that save time. The only bad point (not the fault of the ODC 420) was when I put my float vest in the back area and I had brought the one with the Auto inflate which I now know works.[shocked] Man that sound when it went off....My brother thought I blew a hole in it..

Thanks for the help.

[cool][#0000ff]On the bright side, you caught fish. And, you did not sink or get blown across the lake. All the other stuff you can deal with and will learn as you go.[/#0000ff]
