At my school there is a pond that I fish out of after school and athletics end. I catch a lot of bluegills and other sunfish, catfish, (one was 13 inches, the others around 6), and some bass (six pounder was the biggest, usually 2 pounds, 7-9 inches. I live in new jersey. What other fish can i excpect to catch in that pond. It is a little muddy with mud and rock bottom...it's about 3 acres.

First, Welcom to BFT. You may expect to catch about any fish common to your state.

You never know what any body of water will hold untill you fish it, but if you click on your state DEP site. They will have a list for you.

Most any kind of fish can be found in a body of water. Some are planted and some are brought in on the feet of birds. It is always an adventure when you fish a new body of water. You may even get something that is not native to your state. I would try to fool em with everything in my bag of tricks.

I believe that your existing list would probably be present, and there are more species possible as well. Thenice thing about ponds that don't get much pressure, but can support their ecosystem, is that fish flourish, and get old- and big.

Just fish, big bait, small jig or just worm with no weight. Let float, let it sink, Just fish,[unimpressed]

3 acres is a decent sized pond, however, I wouldn't expect to see any other species of fish than you've already mentioned; except maybe carp. Stranger things have happened though. I remember not long ago DaveTclown was telling us a story about a pirrana being caught in one of the Great Lakes.(if I remember correctly) Actually, I think it was a Paku, the vegitarian cousin of the pirrana. Hey Dave, which one was it?????????

But either way, I wouldn't get your hopes up about discovering a new kind of fish or anything. The reason why you ask? The small size of the pond doesn't support the key habbitat required for the other local fish in the area. Pike, Walleye, Flathead Cats, etc.... All are big water fish and have big appitites. They would last long in a small pond. Niether would the small panfish. LOL[cool]
