[black]Ahhh, Finally ![/black]
[black][/black]
[black]I got out for a few afternoon hours of fishing at UL. The weather was clear and warm with little to no wind and waves were non-existant and there were a minimum of bugs. No armada of power mongers nor hords of bank tanglers, No surface to ship incomings, and nary a water skier towing topedo boat to worry about - just a little surface green goo that UL tends to develop this time of year. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]I had my rods, my reels, my net, my fish finder, my tackle, my license, and my lunch. I was basically free to navigate up and down the shore line at my leisure. And leisure it was ![/black]
[black][/black]
[black]The fishing was fabulous and the catching was not too far behind. After 2 short, but intense while they lasted, pick ups and rejections by who knows what, I got a serious inquiry on a 2x2 hunk of last year's frozen carp that I had dropped on the bottom and let lie while I was tieing a plastic onto my other line for casting into the rocks on the shore. The drag on the first rod sang out and I stopped playing with my second pole to pay attention to my first. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]The fight was on and I immediately discovered that the drag on my reel was loosened completely. After adjusting the drag and stopping the fish from entirely spooling me, it was hand to hook combat with the fish, with only a hundred yards or so of line between us. It seemed like a real long time, but I eventually got my adversary into the net - about a 26 inch 8 lb channel cat. Normally, that would be a little bigger than what I like in table fare, but I hadn't had catfish all year - in the basket it went(it barely fit).[/black]
[black][/black]
[black]Back and forth, I covered the same ground(or water) - maybe thinking that there might be another cat lurking under that lovely green canopy. Wrong, however, somewhat to my surprise, a second 2X2 hunk of frozen last years carp was sucked up by a fiesty 14 inch white bass that put on quite a fight - the bait looked too big for it's mouth. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]When the floating green goo got worse, although not quite bad enough to walk on top of, I decided to call it a day. I did get some photos(I had left my camera in the truck), but somehow, I need to transfer them to this PC to post them(my other computer with the photo software is out with a power supply problem).
