I did some bottom fishing with Eastman's charters out of Seabrook NH on Tuesday 10/3 It's a long day because we get up at 2AM on the road by 3 AM on the boat by 6 and riding to the fishing ground before 8 then back home again by 8:30 PM but this trip was worth it the fishing was reel good. We caught fish all day long with limited moves on the part of the captain. The moves were caused by the dog fish that would find us and interupt the haddock bite. The big fish of the day were pollock and hake with a 19 lb hake taking the pool. The best fish of the day were the haddock which came in abundance. I did manage two keeper cod [24" minimum] and 3 cusk. There were three of us in our little group and we managed over ten lbs. of fillets each. With the going rate for haddock in the Northeast that pays for the trip.
We attribute our success to Gary Yamanato's glow plastic twisted tail jig, we put them on the hook before a clam strip. This made our offering stand out from the others on the bottom.
The reason we took off on Tuesday was because the sea's looked good between the fronts that have been moving thru the northeast and the Vextar graph that comes out in the NewYork Sportman showed for excelent fishing all day peeking at 1PM. This time they were right on the money. Chief
