Has anybody ever fished with glow sticks? How did you connect them to your line and did they make for a interesting fishing trip????
No I haven't tried them, but they do make some that connect to your line.

I tried them once years ago while ice fishing...didn't seem to help. My buddy that wasn't using them caught just as many fish as I did. They actually make some that are designed to attach to your line. Not worth the money if you ask me.

if you realy want to try them.. then go to www.northlandtackle.com look under Fire-light glow stick.. they have some that attach right to the hook, jig, or bobbers..
might be worth a try..

I've used them when ice fishing. The ones from Northland Tackle come with a little rubberized connector. I like to hang them next to my flasher/spoon, above my jig. I think (?) that on the darker, cloudier days they certainly help to make my lure more visible to the fish; supplying some light for the spoon to reflect as it's jigged.
I like 'em.

I tried 'em at night on the Gorge several years back. I had a hair-brained idea to do all my summer fishing at night to avoid the crowds and heat. I did avoid the crowds and sun, but the fish didn't care at all. They slept while I bonked 'em on the head with glow lights, glow jigs, dark jigs, noisy jigs, and everything else. I tried the glow sticks in the daytime too, and didn't notice any effect. I watched on my underwater camera as the glowing jigs went right past their noses. (It did make the jigs easy to see on the camera!)

You'd think it would help in very deep, dark water, but it didn't. Fish have to survive, and their food isn't lit up or glowing, so I guess they don't need any light.

Maybe for walleyes or stripers at night???

Jim, glad to see that I am not the only one who tries different (unproven) fishing techniques that don't work. I have to admit that it is a lot more fun to keep experimenting than always doing the same old thing (for example, like dragging popgear and a worm around all day long on every trip).

Most of the lures and techniques I've tried in my life DIDN"T work!!! The only way to find a trick or two is try a bunch of crazy stuff and once in a while something either works, or inspires another crazy idea to try. I just got off the lake this morning after testing and filming a couple of new jigs I've been working on. One worked, but wasn't magic, and needs modification. The other one had the fish running away! Trying to get just one more step up on the fish, as fruitless as it usually is, is the only thing that keeps me going so many days on a lake I've spent WAY too many of life's hours on.

No light stick needed this morning though. Sunny and calm on the pond, and the water is still 50 degrees on the surface.
