Thanks Mike, I haven't seen you in the Nevada forum before. Welcome! This is a great board. Not sure if you've fished Mead before but I highly recommend it.

Hello MS,
Its been a while since I've been but when I lived in California (a couple years now) and used to come up to Vegas for boxing or the ICAST Fishing show I used to try to get on the water as much as I could. I plan on fishing it again this year when the ICAST Show comes to Vegas. We'll have to hook up if your up to it!

Last time out was a festive day of top water action, just about as good as it gets. Nothing Big but a whole lot of fun. I am pretty sure the pic below was taken at Mead.

Hey Mike,

Yeah, that pic definitely looks like it's from Mead. Either Calville Bay or Echo Bay. Those are some good size stripers. I know what you mean about the top water action. At night the top water action is excellent at Temple Bar. During Fall and Winter, we usually use 4 - 6 lb test to cast out a cut piece of anchovy with one ball bearing weight (for further reach). As soon as the anchovy hits the water, we start reeling in the line, within a second or two tops, we've got a striper on the line. They're not big fish but it's fun to catch a bunch.

I'm hoping my friends and I can get out to Temple Bar on December 26 for a 4 day houseboat trip. I just returned from an 8 day trip in October, and I'm already suffering from serious Mead "withdrawals." I'll let you know if we end up heading to Mead in the last week of December.

Best regards,

Paul

Wow! 8 days of striper fishing, you must have been eating like a king!! BLM on the Utah board has the awesome spicy taco recipe!

The house boat sounds like the way to go! What does it run to rent those for a 4 day trip?

Well, right now a 4 day mid-week or 3 day weekend trip will run you $995, which is a pretty good deal if you can split it 8 ways. The max capacity is 8 for the 50 footers at Temple Bar. I highly recommend it. The houseboats are brand spanking new and they have everything you possibly need.

Oh yeah, we were definitely eating very well during the trip. I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy so I made sure we had a lot of rib eyes and pork ribs on hand.

Btw, it looks like we'll be going on December 26 through the 29th. We're trying to get a few more people to go because we don't have enough yet. I'll keep you posted though.

Best regards,

Paul
