o.k. so here's the deal. we have rented a houseboat for a week out of bullfrog marina for next spring, and was wondering if any of you have done this. this will be our first houseboat excursion and of course want to maximize our fishing time. our boat is scedulled to leave the docks the morning of the 19th of april. we will also take advantage of the "preboard" deal they have there, allowing you to take care of allot of the paperwork, go through the boat orientation and load your boat the day before departure, and also spend the night in the houseboat. now here is my question. where will the boat be docked at the night before departure? i am hoping that we will be able to do some night fishing off the houseboat the night before departure. will this be possible? is the boat docked in 30' of water or more, or is the boat docked up next to the shore, next to the marina? also any other tips you could give a first timer would be appreciated. laters

[Wink] Fencekid,

Sounds like you have a sweet deal set up. I have done what you are doing. Preboarding is a good way to go. Have them put ice in the cooler that is on the boat. You pay for it upfront that way and its ready for you.

Once you have come through the pay gate, continue down the road until you get to the stop sign, Gas station on the right. turn right there and follow road past the mobile home houseing units on the right. Once you hit the next stop sign, make a left and follow it down, will tyrn into dirt until you get to the parking area. as you get closer to the water. you will see the house boats on the right side, thats where you will go. they are in deep water so that you can fish from them at night. we do this each year and you can catch stripers, crappie, catfish and bass right from the boat at night. there are lights in the area to see what you are doing.

boat launch is back over where you came in. there is a small store with some stuff in it and a state store to pick up any last minute booze needs.

Pm me with any other questions you have and I will see what I can do to answer them

Anchovies work well at nite there at the docks. I tend to fish there at nite when I am at bullfrog. you put the chovie on a 1/2 to 1 once jig head send it to the bottom and wait is one way to pick up stripers and cats there. Tossing tube or curly tails of different sizes work also but use glow heads and tubs and curly tails to pick up other fish. Shoot even good old nightcrawler worl also. I sure hope they put on the feed bags here over the winter they were really skinny here a couple months ago. Best of luck to you and remember those house boats suck gas like mad!
Oh by your chovies there or in hanksville before you get there amnd keep them frozen. You can go throu alot of them also so by a couple bags for that first nite.
