[#0000ff]We can only guess what it will do to the overall fishery. During the winter it will concentrate both the predators and the prey. The walleyes, wipers, cats, smallies and crappies will have plenty to eat, in the smaller water pool, but the key question is whether or not there will be enough runoff to fill the lake again in the spring. If not, then many of the fish will not be able to spawn successfully and populations will suffer, like they did during the drought.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]I think the temporary ban on fishing has more to do with keeping people out of the way than any potential affect on fishing. Once the trucks and personnel are through the fishing should open again. They kept it open all through the drought, and the water levels were lower then.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]At high water there are some holes over 25 feet deep. It was about 2 feet down when they began dropping it. Not sure whether they are going to drop it to the 10 foot down level or 10 feet from where it started.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]During the drought the deepest place on the lake was about 12 feet. There were still active and healthy fish.[/#0000ff]
