As seen on T.V. is running an ad on the left bar of these forums and I noticed the "Rocket Fishing Rod", as much as I love to teach my 10 year old son proper technique I coudn't resist. I know, I know, I'm a sucker but the thing looks like a blast! I let you know when it gets here.

thats awesome! let us know how it works out! LOL

3 words................What The Hell? LOL You're going to have to explain that one. Does it "launch" the line out or something?
[signature]
Hello TEME,
LOL! Yes it launches the line up to 40+ yards (I think thats what is said) its a pump action fishing rod[

]
My son's ten and he loves Catching but hasn't learned the appreciation of fishing. If we're on the fish he's loving it, but sitting still is not his thing. I'm thinking this might just work?
I'll post a little video of his first fish on it when it comes. Should be a good laugh fo all.

p.s. I wish I could say I don't usually get suckered in on stuff like this but my curiousity usually gets the best of me and I fall for just about every new "fishing gadget", I guess its better then being a crack addict?[

Well my savvy fishing friend, we share the very same issues. My son just turned 11 and has "chillin" problems as well.
Do let me know how that thing works. How much does that thing cost anyways?

I picked up another $10 gadget on the way out and upgraded shipping and it came to $48 but I think the rod was about $35?

] Just make sure he aims in the right direction. You dont want to put an eye out.

Ditto the last post--you might consider wearing safety glasses and a cup. Having a treble hook removed from the eye and/or scrotum are probably something best left to the criminally insane [pirate]

[black][size 3]Hey Theangler,[/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Your 10 year old son is going to use that ? [/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Are you going to be standing behind a SUV on the other side of town when he does ? LOL ![/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Just as a suggestion, maybe you should try it out first with a practice casting plug. But don't do it in front of him. You might have to nix the thing after you see what it does. And then your son would just be disappointed when you had to deep 6 the whole idea because of the danger factor. [/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]OK, so even if it does work out alright, how about barbless hooks just to be on the safe side.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]But it does look like it could be a riot to play with. Do you guys have sea gulls in your area ? J/K.[/size][/black]

Please don't point that thing at Cali. It could get shot down before you get a chance to get spooled.[cool]

LOL! I appreciate the concern guys, and I hope he finds it as ammusing as I found these posts. He's a pretty good shot so I think my jewels are safe.
We're headed to Alabama this weekend for his first whitetail hunt, to bad he won't have the rod rocket yet. Tighten that drag, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!! (LOL)
But seriously, he's gotta be my favorite fishing and hunting buddy (my daughter will humor me once and a while but isn't a big fan), here are some pics:

Diddo, my boy is my favorite fishing partner. He just turned 11 not long ago. He's such a good angler and has learned so much. He's pasted me up this year, catching bigger fish in every catagory. Infact, I think he almost won the Saltwater 16 species contest; I think he only lost by a handful of points. He caught everyone of those fish, it's pretty amazing to see him at work.
And like you, i'm waiting for my new born to get old enough to hang on to a fishing pole. He's just turned 6 1/2 months. How old is your daughter?

I think I'll be o.k., he was a straight shooter this weekend on his first deer hunt:

What gun is he sporting there?

Hello Dave,
It was a lot of fun and Alabama seems to be a great spot to find'em, we saw a lot of deer over the 2 days we hunted (well I hunted 2 days, my son wanted to play on the trapaline with his friend mostly but hunted one evening with us), no big bucks but freezer fillers for sure.
Its a 22-250.
Here's a couple more:

they dont get to big down that way, well compaired to the corn fed ones here in michigan. wisconson and minesoda.
wait till you see the ones from florida, I big buck down that looks like a porkypine riding the head of a begal...LOL
they are a third again smaller than the small one in your photo. but boy do they get the points. my neighbor took a 21 pointer from down there a few years back, the spread was less than two fist. 6-7 inches in side.
what is the limit there now? I know at one time back in the 70's the limit on white tail deer was 50 per season. "no joke"
a wall mounter is nice, but I would rather have a freezer full of those tender ones. I prefer bragging over the BBQ. [angelic]
the hides make nice bead covers and wall tapestries if you get them tanned with the hair on.
I had a 200 pound doe's hide tanned 10 years ago, I still have it, I had it tanned with the legs down to the ankle, head, nose, and ears on. I will see if I can find the pic of it or take another one. and post it here for ya.
I skinned the deer my self, head ears and all. I learned how some 30 years ago while working for a furier between trap runs.

My son has been trying to get his first deer this year. He's had pretty bad luck doing so. He saw a single deer while out hunting with his pappa, but it was too dark for him to really make him out in the scope. Poor guy, after such a great year of fishing, I was really hoping to see him score his first deer. There's still a little time left, maybe he'll luck up one of these weekends in the near future.
There's nothing like a texas style chilli or brunswick stew made with chunks of fresh deer meat. Mmmmm, or maybe some spicy deer sausage to go with your hashbrowns and eggs. [cool]

That is a nice one dude.! All we have are the 2 legged deer in Cali. ha ha.
Do you know what is the difference between "Beer Nuts" and "Deer Nuts"?
Beer Nuts are around a dollar twenty five and Deer Nuts are still just under a Buck[
