Full Version: Need a trout fix...

Well, I'm leaving for Utah tomorrow for an extended stay (until Dec. 26) and I need to get my trout fix while I'm there. I've only been fishing a handful of times since I moved to Arizona and it has usually been for warm water species. I've caught a couple trout, but they were hatchery slimers without fins. I want to catch a real trout...don't care what kind as long as it has some color and all of its fins. However, I gave away all of my ice fishing gear when I left Utah, so I'll need to find some accessible soft water. I'm willing to dress warm, but I don't have 4 wheel drive. Anyone have any suggestions on where I should go? If I remember right, this is the transition period...most places frozen enough to prevent much shore access, but soft enough to keep you off the hard deck.

[#0000ff]Both Jordanelle and Deer Creek are still open water and have fish available around the shorelines. They are off and on though, depending upon weather fronts.[/#0000ff]

The rivers are in good shape right now also. You can throw any number of traditional river offerings and catch a few. I have been doing good on the lower weber by the canyon on flies and white jigs. Also nightcrawlers under a bobber in a deep hole.If you need any more help let me know. If you are a hearty sole, take T.D. up on his offer. I am sure he has a "good" idea of where to find a finned slimer for ya.
