I fished the Big Elk Arm of Pali
es on Saturday; the portion North of the highway. For everyones info there is no ice on main Big Elk Arm or near the dam at Pali
es; I too am looking forward to fishing these areas and would appreciate a report when the event of ice happens. As far as the ice fishing went it was slow and the bite soft. I had several small hits, but could only ice one small cutt. The most steady bite happened while jigging and I did have one set pole 15 feet from the rock bridge that did get hits on a glow in the dark white jig. Fishing between 15-28 feet was the best and thats where most fish were cruising. There is about 9-12 inches of famous Pali
es ice/snow crust to auger through. You will need a bord to get on or have one frozen leg in your attempt. I fished from 7:30-11:00 AM.
I wish you all better luck.
