It's that time of year when I wax a little nostalgic and go digging through old photos from throughout the last 12 months.

This year has been amazing. I drove several thousand miles on the highways, byways, backways, and dirt roads of Utah in search of the state's best campgrounds. I didn't take nearly as many photos as I should have, nor did I spend a lot of time setting up really good shots.

What I do have, though, are some great snapshots to remind me of the adventures of '06, and inspiration to spend the rest of my life exploring in detail the sites I visited this year. My Utah outdoors to-do list is now 13,528 feet long.

Here are some higlights from my photo folders. Truth be told, I've got thousands more photos of red rock country, national parks, state parks, west desert, and everything inbetween. I've only included a small sampling of the photos most pertinent to us fishers.

I know there are several shutterbugs on this site--so I wanna see where everyone else spent 2006. Fish pics, lake pics, trail pics, gear pics, embarassing pics, nose picks--Post 'em up!

Hey lurechucker nice photos, looks like you had a lot of fun in some beautiful country. I was wondering if some of those uintah pics are of the Yellowstone Resevoir?
If you mean the Yellowstone drainage--then no. They're all much further west than that.

I did spend some time in '05 in the YD and it was awesome. For old time's sake, a few pics below:

There's nothing quite like a Daddy/Daughter trip to the Nelle and Pelican. These were a few of my favorite pics from 2006

Cdragon--I'm drueling. Pics like that make me HATE winter. You spend much time up there?

Fishwriter--looks like a great time in the right company. Good looking fishies too.

Yeah Lurechucker,

My brothers and a couple of friends take a backpacking trip (usually 5 days) up into the Uintas every year. We've done it for the last 8-9 years. And then we will ususally do one other short 2-3 day trip too so that my 11 and 8 year old sons can go. It's ALWAYS a good time. I love going up there. Although for this next year.....we are talking about doing a trip up to the Wind River range.

Good stuff!!!

WOW, bunch of great pics, everyone...thanks for sharin them!

I caught my PB striper early this year
Here are some pictures of this year. The first one is one big cat that I caught while fishing with Leaky, Tubedude and Tubebabe (both for the first time) this spring/summer. The second one is a bass I caught out nighttime fishing in the desert on a hand painted (with engine paint) black lure. Then, there are the pictures that I've taken of my daughter fishing... those are always great. Thats the third picture. I shot my first grouse this year and again, my daughter was with me for the fourth picture. We also have gone duckhunting together in the fifth picture. One of the very best parts of my year happened while I was working at the racetrack (RMR) this summer.... I got engaged to a gal who accepts my outdoors craziness and actually tags along once in a while. I threw in a Temple Square pic also just as an extra "score one for me" shot.

Oh, and one I forgot to add.... I shot my first ever swan this year too out in the marsh. Sorry these aren't all fishing shots, but they are some of my most memorable on the year.

Long year, lots of great memories. The top two are my best fish of the year. 10# Albino Trout, 35# Ling Cod. The next one is my dad's Halibut. Great fish, too.

The next four are from my favorite trips. One was Brough Reservoir, when my brother and I went out and fished together. The next one was the Jordan River pumphouse, just before the big channels came out to play. Face Rock is just outta Bandon, Oregon. Most of our fishing in southern Oregon was right around there. And the Yaquina one is of the Yaquina Bay bridge, in Newport, Oregon.

The next two are my most memorable hunting experiences, my first cow moose, and my first wyoming buck. I coulda put my cow elk or two does on, but they weren't quite as good as these.

The last one's kind of a bittersweet memory for me. When my ex-fiance was in town, we went fishing. I hooked this brown and let her reel it in. That was without a doubt the best day of our week together, and the last day that we were really happy together. [Sad] I haven't fished the Cottonwood since then, and I doubt I'm going to fish it again for a long time to come.

Well, that's the best I have. It's great seeing all of your guys' pics.
