[cool]I've seen them on the new DVD that came with the In-Fisherman Ice Fishing Guide for '07, and in that video it looked really nice, and a great tool to have for when you are going out solo and the weather looks crappy. I'm gonna own one sometime soon, but will definitely get my 4 man first...

I don't know exactly what you are talking about, but I just purchased the QuickFish II by Eskimo. (We used it last weekend).
The storage case is in fact a backpack, with straps and everything. It is designed to be carried to and from your fishing location just like a backback and at 18 lbs, I didn't even notice the weight while my cousin carried it![

[black]Hey nugs,[/black]
[black][/black]
[black]I just thought I would repeat part of the conversation you and I had regarding my experience with the Pak Shak for the other folks here.[/black]
[black][/black]
[black]I checked one of those out that was on display at Cabellas. It was all set up (I think correctly) and just waiting for a customer to test drive it.[/black]
[black][/black]
[black]This is what I observed. Keep in mind that I am not that large of a person. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]I took one of the rods off the rack that was the same size as the ones I use - 28 inches. I Picked up a tackle box that was about the size of my fish finder cooler and another that was the size of my tackle box. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]I went over and sat in it and pulled the cover over me as the Shak was designed. The first thing I did was measure the inside with my arms and then did the same with the rod. Then I opened the cover back up and placed the 2 tackle boxes inside with me. I arranged them like I would have them while fishing. I didn't have anything to emulate a hole in the ice so, I just used my imagination for that. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]Here is my take on the product. It seemed rather small for me. There appeared to be some elbow room, and enough area in front of me such that I didn't feel too cramped, However, I felt it was a lttle short on head room. Also, like all tents, once inside, there is no real scenery to look at except black fabric, a rod tip, the fish finder, and a hole in the ice. Which is all ok as long as there is some catching along with the fishing. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]The chair was as comfortable as any other folding camp chair I have sat on. The tent fabric is light weight and the support poles are similar to real light backpacking tents. If a wind came up, it would be a good idea to nail the thing down in the event that the occupant needed to stand up or leave the confines of the chair. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]There did not seem to be enough room for the stuff I would have on a regular ice fishing trip without something being underfoot - I would have to choose whether the lunch, thermous, tackle box or fishfinder stayed outside in the jet sled. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]As I did the fishing simulation, I noticed that when I lifted the rod as if to set a hook, I could easily touch the tent fabric with the rod tip. I would definitely have to use a 24" or smaller rod to make it work with out ripping through the top of the tent in the heat of the moment during a sudden hookset. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]The chair is just a regular folding camp chair with arm rests. To fish, I would have to be leaning back the whole time - even while fighting a fish. That is not how I usually fish. I often raise my rod above my waist to play a fish of almost any size. I could not do that in the Pak Shak without fear of creating a sun roof. Maybe if I were only fishing for blue gills with a really short ulta light action rod, I could make it work. [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]Another worrisome issue about the chair inside the frugal interior space of the Shak (for me at least) ... if I leaned back to be able to fish effectively and not hit the roof or front fabric with my rod, I could be in danger of falling asleep if the catching slowed down. [/black]
[black][/black]
So, this is the next Ice shelter I am going to look at - it looks like it has more room. It's a only a few more dollars and weighs about 11 pounds.

Thanks for the review, I had wondered about this contraption myself, but I have not had the chance to personally see it. Santa brought me the HT Polar Windbreak and I really like it. I am not a real big fan of fishing inside of a tent, but keeping the wind off me is a plus.
I have used this a few time and I am satisfied. It is made of cheep material and I don't expect the seat to last too long, but I won't be too hard to replace. (Santa brought my wife a sewing machine.) The wind will play havoc with this seat as well; as soon as you stand up it may take off, so either anchor it down or lay it down on its side when standing.
Just my two cents.

I have the shack that you have pictured in the bottom. If you move around much it is not the type you want to use if it is very windy. It is hard to set up in the wind and you have to use the screws to hold it down to keep it from blowing away. On non windy days it is pretty nice and roomy enough for 2 people. I used mine with a small heater down to -30 in Alaska and it is comfortable.
