[#0000ff]"I got our ice cleats at the Army Navy store near where I live in Salt Lake, on Redwood Road. They are the heavy rubber with several rows of "aggressive" spikes. They pull on the toe of my size 13 boot and then the back part stretches back easily up over the heel. Wore them all day on both rock and ice and they do great. Pretty "pricey" though. I think I only paid about $7 a pair for them. I know Flycasting would have paid a lot more for them if he had not had my extra pair today."[/#0000ff]

[#000000]Apparently, after his post, the Army Navy store had a run on these ice cleats and sold out. I found a source for them Online, and the shipping is reasonable:[/#000000]

[black]The model he purchased was SGT-2. I ordered some a couple hours ago and they have already been shipped.[/black]

Hey Kent - I picked some up at Wally World (Fort Union) for $3.99 about a month ago. Also that store that starts with a "C" located in Lehi had a big supply last year.

I got mine at cabelas last year and they are awsome!!!

[black]I went with the "Stabilicers". They are a little more substantial but they do cost more. I got tired of having to buy a pair or two a year after they ended up breaking. I'm hoping this is the last set I'll have to buy. The Stabilizers have replaceable cleats (heat treated screws). Anyway, here's a different type of ice cleat:[/black] [Image: B000C8DM64.01-AJK3N5IUBWKZM._SCMZZZZZZZ_V55941775_.jpg]

What size did you get? Do they fit your Trans Alaskans?

I'm poor, so I just beat roofing nails through my sneakers.

Sorry to be a smart-a$$ on your post Kent, but I couldn't resist.
[black]The Trans-Alaska boots are BIG (mine are a size 13) so not many cleats even come close to fitting them. They fit but I need to modify them a bit to make them fit right. Nothing major though. The soles of the XXL fit good but the back straps are a little snug to get around the heel but I can cut the sewn straps and re-sew them in the correct position and they'll work great. other than that, they are sweet![/black]

REI sells them also.

I got a cheap pair of yax trax and I am very happy with them. They go on and take off with no problem. I bought them at Sportman's in Riverdale.

Got mine at Wally World and they did come in handy today. Not so much for walking on the ice but for climbing back up the hill to the parking lot at Rockport.
