I hope to go to Dog Crk this weekend, if my back willing, to try to entice one of the tiger muskie's there and catch some perch, bluegill or trout. Haven't ice fished it ever and never have seen anyone there. Could be fun could be just getting out.Hope my back is feeling up to it, it's been 3 weeks now, but is getting stronger.

Good luck. I hope you get into some fish. A tiger muskie is also something I would like to catch sometime.
I might be headed over your way to check out Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir or Magic Reservoir on Monday. Who knows if I will get around to it though. I normally talk about going fishing more than actually fish.[

Well the trip was fun to dog creek! got to the ice about 10 am and fished till 3:30. Had a friend with me, Scot, who had never ice fished before. Got him set up and in 15 min he had caught 3 fish. All were this years planters good pan size. We did catch some 14-16"ers. We were looking for perch so we put all the trout back and I'm sorry but I never took one pic of the catch, but did take a couple of us.
Never got a nible on the tipup for the tiger muskie. Had it riged up with the biggest minnow I had (3-4"). I really am a total rookie in fishing for them so I hope some time I stumble on to one and he gets catches himself[

Looks like you guys had a good time and did much better catching wise than I did on my short trip to American Falls yesterday.

Thanks guys!
I went to where I found the perch last summer but they weren't there or biting. So I guess I will need to just drill more holes. Any ideas for the muskie? location depth etc.?

They don't call muskies the fish of 10,000 casts for nothing. I haven't caught a tiger muskie yet so I'm take my advice with a grain of salt. I would use a larger tube jig(3" or possible larger) with a piece of meat on it. I would use perch meat at most places but I'm sure sucker or chub meat would also work. A plain minnow below a tip up should also work. Tiger muskies aren't bottom huggers like perch. I would look for tiger muskies in places that have the fish that they eat.
There are a number of guys on the Utah board that have some experience with tiger muskies. If none of them see your question on the Idaho board it wouldn't hurt to go to the Utah board and ask for tips.
