We took a quick drive this morning to check the ice conditions around the lower lake. Hard to believe we were actually boating around on soft water just last Thursday. After a weekend of lows 10-20 below zero and highs around 5 degrees, it wasn't to surprising to find some safe ice. The reservoir is capped as far as you can see from Antelope Boat Launch. Ice off the Antelope Boat Launch was about 3-4 inches of clear and snow covered. Road conditions were marginal; rutted with some drifts. You definitely want to use a 4-wheel drive. There is still open water at Mustang Boat Launch, but ice has formed in the back of the coves and draws. The Mustang Launch road was plowed. The forecast is calling for daytime temps around 20 the remainder of the week, so ice will be forming quickly. I'll keep ya posted and try to get a catch report or two.

Thank you sir for braving those frigid temps to give us the report. By the way did you see any penguins running around?
