I have owned several models of Eskimo power augers.
All went back to the store because of failures.
The last one had a 2 horse Tecumseh motor on it. The pull starter broke on it.
The reason that I went with the Barracuda was because it had the Tecumseh motor.
I was told that this is the same motor used on Strikemaster augers. Is this true and if so, has anyone had the pull starter go bad on your Strikemaster?
I'm trying to get a spare starter assembly for mine so I can fix it on the ice and keep fishing next time it breaks.
I do know that when pulling on the rope, you should use short strokes and never pull the rope all the way out. This will cause wear on the knot and cause the rope to break.
