TubeDude

I had a portable fish finder that my wife bought me at Cabela's last summer that I haven't been very happy with. I took it back to them and with evidence of the receipt they gave me a full refund.

Now the question is what do I buy to replace it?

I Know there are ways people fit a regular Fish Finder so it can be used on a tube or pontoon. TubeDude, you have probably already posted how to do this and I would sure like some info on how to do it for my float tube and/or my pontoon.

Please direct me to the post/posts or PM me with the info. Anybody with any other setups, I would appreciate knowing how you do it. I go ice fishing as well and would like to use it then.

Thanks

[cool][#0000ff]If you wander over to the Float Tube Board, there are a lot of pics and ideas. But, a thread I once posted showed how to mount an Eagle Fishmark with a skimmer transducer.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The type of sonar you choose will depend on how much you want to spend and what you want it to do for you. The one in the pictures is about $140 and works fairly well for both toonin' and drillin'. However, I mostly use an Eagle Cuda 168EX for both because they are around $100 and work well for the price. If you want real time display of your jig and what the fish are doing, you will have to spend a bit more, for more power.[/#0000ff]

Tubedude,

Thanks for the ideas and the example it is a big help. It looks like you have a very servicable setup. I guess I just need to figure out what one I want to buy and work from there.

tlspyder13,

Thanks for the help and the link. I fished for years without a fish finder and did fine but after having one I don't want to go back to the "old way".
