My brothers want to come down from Idaho Falls to do some ice fishing at Bear Lake, but they want to maximize their chances for some good fishing. Would it be best to wait until the cisco run is over? When is the best ice fishing at Bear Lake?

I think a better time to fish it will be 3 or 4weeks after the run is over. However, you can still get into the fish. Bear Lake will never be a strawberry type fishery. What I mean is that you just never know with that lake. I never have days where I catch 20-30 fish (exception to whitefish). I think the main thing spend as much time on the ice as you can. The great thing about that lake is that you always have a good chance to catch a 10lb+ mac.

Fishdude I have fished bear lake a few times and I think the same as the other reply you have on your post. That 3 to 4 weeks after the cisco run, or until next weekend would be good; because those fish gorge themselfs on cisco and then the feeding slows down to almost nothing.
If you know; Talk about it: If not; Shut up![shocked]
