The local news reported that the IDFG will be bringing Island Park Res. back to the good catch rates of several years ago.
IDFG will be stocking ~500,000 to 750,000 trout. The only down side would be that other areas won't get the normal stocking numbers because I P will take priority. I think this is a huge shot in the arm for I P. I have seen the quality of fishing decline each year for the last 4-5 years. The reservoir has such an abunance of feed it shouldn't take long for the fishery to bounce back.

P.S. I P is the only place where I have caught 3 lb. kokes

I just dream about catching a 1.5 pound koke. I hope this does the trick. I will say the solitude has been nice the last few years, but the fishing is truly slow and to me it is only good the first couple of weeks after ice up. I just don't want any water to suffer. Fishing has been great in many places this winter, and to hold out on them I am not sure if it will make sense. I hope it does the trick, because it will always take effort to get there and us that are willing will benefit.
