As a new member of BFT, I would like to say hi to everyone out there and give deep appreciation to all those who I have taken ice fishing advice from the past few weeks. However I need some help, I just cant't figure out the best places to be at the right time. Last weekend I got SKUNKED at Scofield and it was tough fishing on the hard deck at the Berry. However the few weekends before that, at the Berry I had some great days out on the ice. Anybody out there got any advice about places that haven't slowed down?

At Pineview is it still hot at the narrows, I haven't done much perch fishing this year I have been trying for those infamous footballs a the the Berry but I would be willing to change to some good ole perch fishing--they sure make a great meal (if I could catch enough)

Strawberry and Scolfield are very busy by this time of year, so the first advise is to get away from the crowds and from where the crowds have been. I don't fish Strawberry that much, but at Scolfield after it's been this busy I will get atleast a little ways away from the major traffic spots, and then expect the fish to bite really light. A spring bobber helps a lot, or a small slip bobber with a stopper above it that will reel through the loops on your pole allowing you to put your bait back down to the exact previous spot and detect the lightest bites. Some days you need to be pretty quick with the hookset. Also, the lighter the bite the smaller presentation I will do, usually just a small rat finkie, or even just a small plain hook with the wax worm covering the entire hook, about 15 inches of leader and then a tiny swivel with a sliding sinker above it. I always have pretty good luck up there using these methods and paying close attention the the pole.

fishindaddy is right.. I have been ice fishing a lot this year compared to previous years and I have been doing great.. technique and location are key... if you can get away from the crowds you can do very well... I have been fishing strawberry, currant creek and pineview have been doing very well... let me know if you want any techniques on those lakes.. I am by no means the best fisherman on this board but I have had my fair share of luck this year... I am hitting pineview tomorrow afternoon if you or anyone else wants to come..

I have got a somewhat of a "secret spot" and due to a 80 hour a week work schedule, I have only been twice. Both trips produced and I ended up with 24.5" 5lb fish and 22" 4 lb fish. It may be a drive for you, but might be worth it. PM and I will help you out.
