Full Version: Pontoon boat for the UK

Hi again
I am the proud new owner of a fat cat and it is everything I hoped it would be, but it still has the float tubes weak point of being a bit slow to cover distance, which makes it a bit of a problem on the larger Scottish Lochs, so I was thinking of adding a pontoon boat to my collection. We are not exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to pontoon boats in the UK so I am going to purchase in the USA.
I therefore need some suggestions (don't forget, I have never actually seen one of these, let alone fished from one) It will be in the 8' -9' range and light enough to ship to UK without costing more than the boat [unsure]
The ability to mount a small trolling motor would be a major benefit as I get older [laugh]
Any suggestion on boats and suppliers would be welcome.
Thanks
Dave

A buddy of mine has an outcast fishcat 9 that is pretty sweet, but i think it tips the scales at around 70lbs. This may be an option I do not think it is nearly as heavy but may be worth taking a look at. I have a Creek Company ODC420 and love it.

or also possibly look at the power tubes, the little attachments that hold a Battery and motor and push your tube around.

They build some of the best toons and tubes I have ever seen. I have the older Cardiac Canyon and love it. I would like to add the Freestyle H3 this year.
And as Majja mention there is:

They do look nice, don't they [Wink]
Then again, the outcast boats look good to, and I have an Outcast tube which I am very impressed with.
It may come down to what is available on sale and what deal I can do on shipping.
Thanks for all you replys

Do you have to pay an import tax on it if you purchase it? If so, you may want to arrange for someone here to purchase it for you and send it as a gift (having worked out the payment details via paypal, etc.) [Wink]

Not that I would actually suggest anything illegal...it's only a theoretical suggestion...now immoral, I will suggest that [Tongue]

Import tax is a funny thing, sometimes you do and sometimes you don't. It seems pretty random. Your idea is a great one [Smile]

[black][size 4]fluffflinger, funny you mentioned Outcast. From what I understand, Dave Scadden was a designer for Outcast way back. That is why some of his toons look similar.[/size][/black]

Of course, if you were willing to take someone fishing in north west scotland, if there is any good fishing in the highlands, they might be persuaded to make that toon a part of the deal, hehe...
