Went to Lake-X again today. Had the pleasure to fish with Out4trout, Flyanddrive, Neto and Larmo. Igottabigone and Skinnielinnie stopped by to say hi. It wasn't as fast and furious as yesterday, but we still caught some big perch. I lucked out with a fat Brown, (released) and a 19" fat Cutt, (filleted). My whole family loves fresh sashimi, especially the kids, so its a no brainer keeping the nicer trout. It was pretty chilly with a slight breeze, but it started warming up when a few of us left at noon. I hope we'll get another report later on how those guys finished up. I look forward to fishing with you guys again soon!

As SlayerAce said, a fun time was had by all! SlayerAce accomodated us all by giving us rides on his 4 wheeler out to the secret spot (Thanks Randy!) and once we were all settled in the fishing was fairly steady all morning. A few times during the morning the schools of fish would swim through and the action was pretty fast. I donated a few Kastmasters and icejigs to the tree branches down there and I'm pretty sure that there are a few perch tethered on broken fishing line wrapped around those same branches. They would bite and run and more times than not (for me anyway) they would get tangled in a tree branch. That Ace sure knows how to catch the fish. I think he caught 5 species of fish out there today! A pretty 19" Cutthroat (didn't know they existed in Lake X, but I saw it with my own eyes) a 16" Rainbow, about a 17" Brown, a bunch of Perch and a fat Chub. I caught 2 species myself, a bunch of perch and a chub. I think between the 5 of us there were probably a few dozen fish caught or so. OutforTrout had the honey hole for a while and pulled up 12" perch every 10 minutes or so for an hour.
I ended up with enough Perch fillets for my wife and I to enjoy and they were dee-lish-us.
I've never seen Jordanelle so iced over as it is right now. Where we were fishing today in over 10 inches of ice, I was fishing out of my boat LAST January!
Thanks again for the good times guys!

That was a good time even if the fishing wasn't as hot as it was yesterday. It was good to meet so many new people and to share in the underwater snags. After slayer, out4, and larmo took off not much else happened. I pulled in a couple more decent perch and I'm not sure if neto hooked up any more or not before he too had to leave. Still a good day spent with good company.

Nice report guys! Any pics?
I too was suprised that there were cutts in there when I caught one float tubing this year. TD caught one that day as well if i remember correctly. [cool]

I was up there also too bad I didn't run into you guys. Where you guys the furthest group to the west out past the bouys? I seen someone on a 4-wheeler making trips back to the ramp then out to the ice. I ended up with 3 bows and one brown fishing from 7:30am - 1:00pm, I never targeted the perch.

MGB,
That was us. We had a great time. I would have enjoyed finally meeting you as well. I'm sure it will happen sooner than later. Sorry no pics this time. I only kept the Cutt, and donated the perch. If I can't eat fresh fish I won't keep it. I don't do fresh frozen anymore.

It was good to meet you guys. It is always good to put faces with names. After I left from chatting with you I headed back to shallower water. We fished in 18 ft of water and iced around two dozen or so rainbows before we had to leave at 11:30. The fished came through about every fifteen minutes. Everytime I marked them on the finder we were gettin bit. It was a good day. I had some buddies with me that had never ice fished before so it was good to get them on to some fish. It was pretty cold with that wind blowin, but all in all it was a beautiful day on the ice. Hopefully, we can meet up again. I am always game to go fishin.

[cool]That was a great time fishing with all of you guys, and Randy thanks for taking us out to the good perch zones at Rock Cliff. Thanks also for the lift to and from the ice. Gotta get me a wheeler one of these days... I did my share of lure donation also with the branches getting two of my sweedish pimples and a big frosty spoon too, but it was worth it to bring in toad perch like that. I think the hog perch hang out in and around those underwater trees 'cause the baby perch go in there to escape the larger perch and larger trout as well. I really think that one of the secrets to finding the larger perch at Lake X is to fish right next to underwater trees like that. You'll lose some lures, but you'll get some AWESOME perchies for the pan!
The perch fishing was a bit slow, but what it lacked in quantity DEFINITELY made up for in quality. Those were some toad perch and they fought hard too when they get up to that size. Felt like I was realing in a trout everytime they fought so well. Can't wait to eat them tomorrow night...
We'll have to do that again!!

Yes, that was us. At first we were the furthest group west, and then later in the morning another group with a red tent went out further. Don't know how they did. I walked off the ice just after 1:00 p.m. so I probably just barely missed you in the parking lot!

If you left the ice about 1 you might have seen a black SM run down the boat ram with two on board, that was us. A bit later I ran in and brought out the "Black Box" (shanty) and heat.. Nothing like ice fishing in 75 degree comfort.
