Well, after picking up the Quickfish III, I finally got my boy out to do some fishing. This was his first time out on the ice. Unfortunately, he wasn't feeling too well, but still managed to have a good time.

I rounded up my dad, two brothers and 3 nephews for the trip. My son and two of the nephews each caught their first fish on the trip. It was kind of slow, and I felt bad because the times I have been up there it was lights out. Fortunately, the kids caught enough to make them happy, and also had fun playing in the snow.

We were fishing the narrows at Pineview (last Saturday) from ~2-4:30. We iced 14-16 perch (can't remember exactly) using ice fly/flasher combos tipped with wax worms. Fished in ~25-40 feet of water. I didn't see any big piles of perch on the ice. Most folks seemed to only have half a dozen or so perch.

Thanks for posting your report Dwight. I bet your kid was happy catching that first fish even if he wasn't feeling good. Did you catch any crappie on either trip? WH2

Good that the little ones can get into the fish. Too bad Pineview has slowed down as of late.

I've been up there a few times this year. Haven't caught any crappies as of yet. I wasn't really fishing deep enough for them on my other trips. Also, when I find fish biting, it is hard for me to leave the area. I did see a few on the ice, but not many.
