Took my 5yr old to DC today. We arrived about 11:00. Fished in 31ft. of water just north of the island and caught 7 bows in about 4 hours. Caught them on a paddlebug sweetened with a waxworm 5ft off the bottom. It wasn't real fast but groups kept coming through on the finder. We missed lots of hits but it was fun to see him get excited about the fish.
A group that was fishing near us was doing well with worms and powerbait.

Thanks for posting your report MC, any size to the bows? Was that other group catching and perch? How thick is the ice? Thanks for the info. WH2

The bows were 14-18". No sign of perch this time.[unsure]

Nice to see a good report from the DC! Nice to have an alternative to UL that is close to the same mileage. How is the construction in Provo canyon? I have not ventured that way for almost a year.

Sounds like a good time one the hard deck. How far from the north shore of the island were you to get in 31 feet of water?

We were only about 30 yards from the Island.

Did you mention how thick the ice is up their? and is there any open water from where you were?

We fished Deer Creek last Sunday on our return from a trip to Pelican. We fished out from Rainbow Bay and I had a good 6 to 8 inches of ice there. Fishing pretty much was a bust as I tried all my previous spots from years past and could not locate any perch.[unsure]

I do not know of any open water at DC. The ice was about 11" thick where we were.

deer creek has a solid 8 to 12 inch ice sheet on it. the ony thin ice i could see was out in the middle where the river runs through. it was covered, but looked shifty to me. but who hikes to the middle of the lake anyways??
